Vatican and Rome ユダヤ人の community to host 目印 menorah 展示

ROME, Feb 20 (Reuters) - The Vatican and Rome's ユダヤ人の museum will 共同で host an 前例のない 展示 on the menorah, the 古代の symbol of Judaism, and try to put to 残り／休憩（する） legends on the 運命／宿命 of one candelabra 行方不明の for 15 centuries.
The May 15-July 23 展示, which Vatican and ユダヤ人の 公式の／役人s 現在のd on Monday, will be held 同時に in St. Peter's Square and in the Rome synagogue コンビナート／複合体.
It will 含む about 130 menorah or depictions of them in 絵s, 古代の gravestones and sculptures, and mediaeval and Renaissance illustrations and manuscripts.
Nearly 20 world museums, 含むing the Louvre and London's 国家の Gallery, have 与える／捧げるd pieces.

But the 絶対の 星／主役にする of the show - the solid gold menorah taken as a トロフィー by the Romans when they destroyed the 寺 in Jerusalem in the year 70 AD, won't be there. Its 運命／宿命 has been a mystery for 1,500 years and the 寺 大型船 has become the stuff of legends.
Jerusalem and its 寺 was destroyed by Titus, a Roman general who became emperor nine years later. A 救済 on his victory arch in Rome, which still stands, shows the Jerusalem menorah and other war トロフィーs 存在 carried in a parade.
Most historians believe the Jerusalem menorah was lost in the Vandal's 解雇（する） of Rome in 455. But legends have 固執するd that it was thrown in the Tiber River and is still there, that it was buried in a 洞穴 or that it is hidden in the Vatican.
"A lot of people will be disappointed to discover that these 都市の legends are not true," said Rome's 長，指導者 Rabbi Ricardo Di Segni.
However, the 展示 will 含む／封じ込める what may be the next best thing - the Magdala 石／投石する. It was 設立する in 2009 in an archaeological dig that 暴露するd an 古代の synagogue on the shores of the Sea of Galilee in イスラエル.
It shows a seven-支店d menorah, 類似の to the one 描写するd on the Arch of Titus in Rome, and is believed to have been carved by an artist who saw the 行方不明の Jerusalem menorah in the 寺 before the Roman's destroyed it.
