BARCELONA, Oct 29 (Reuters) - Hundreds of thousands of 支持者s of a 統一するd Spain filled Barcelona's streets on Sunday in one of the biggest shows of 軍隊 yet by the いわゆる silent 大多数 that has watched as 地域の political leaders 押し進める for Catalan independence.

政党s …に反対するing a 分裂(する) by Catalonia from Spain had a small lead in an opinion 投票 published on Sunday, the first since Madrid called a 地域の 選挙 to try to 解決する the country's worst political 危機 in four 10年間s.

投票s and 最近の 選挙s have shown that about half the 選挙民 in the 豊富な northeastern 地域, which is already 自治権のある, …に反対する 離脱 from Spain, but a 声の independence movement has brought the 現在の 危機 to a 長,率いる.

Spain's central 政府 called an 選挙 for Dec. 21 on Friday after 解雇(する)ing Catalonia's 大統領,/社長 Carles Puigdemont, 解散させるing its 議会 and 解任するing its 政府. That followed the 議会's 片側だけの 宣言 of independence in a 投票(する) ボイコット(する)d by three 国家の parties.

The 地域の 政府 (人命などを)奪う,主張するd it had a 委任統治(領) to 押し進める ahead with independence に引き続いて an 非公式の 国民投票 on Oct. 1 which was 支配するd 違法な under Spanish 法律 and mostly ボイコット(する)d by unionists.

Waving thousands of Spanish 旗s and singing "Viva Espa?a", 抗議する人s on Sunday turned out in the largest 陳列する,発揮する of support for a 部隊d Spain since the beginning of the 危機 -- を強調するing the depth of 分割 in Catalonia itself.

"I'm here to defend Spanish まとまり and the 法律," said Alfonso Machado, 55, a salesman standing with a little girl with Spanish 旗s in her hair.

"Knowing that in the end there won't be independence, I feel sorry for all the people tricked into thinking there could be and the 分割s they've driven through Catalan society."

SLIGHT UNIONIST LEAD

The 投票 of 1,000 people by Sigma Dos for newspaper El Mundo showed uni onist parties winning 43.4 パーセント support and プロの/賛成の-independence parties 42.5 パーセント.

The 調査する was taken from Monday to Thursday, just as the central 政府 用意が出来ている to take 支配(する)/統制する of Catalonia.

Madrid said on Saturday that 脱退論者 政治家,政治屋s, 含むing Puigdemont, were 解放する/自由な to 参加する the 選挙. The 強行路線 CUP has been 不明瞭な if it would.

The 退位させる/宣誓証言するd Catalan 政府 will soon have to make difficult 決定/判定勝ち(する)s, Puigdemont's former 副 Oriol Junqueras said on Sunday in an 編集(者)の in online newspaper El Punt Avui. He stopped short of 説 his ERC party would 参加する the 選挙.

"We need a 株d 戦略 ... it's important to weave solid 同盟s with those who are willing to build a 明言する/公表する that serves its 国民s," he said, かもしれない alluding to a rumoured 同盟 between the ERC and the Catalan arm of the anti-緊縮 Podemos party.

Such an 同盟 could put the independence movement in difficult position as it would mean a main 離脱 支持者 joining 軍隊s with parties that 拒絶する Madrid's hard line but do not support 分離主義.

With weeks to go before the 選挙, the 投票 showed the CUP, 政界の実力者 for the プロの/賛成の-脱退論者s in the 解任するd 135-seat 議会, would 勝利,勝つ seven seats, 負かす/撃墜する from a 現在の 10.

The プロの/賛成の-independence 連合 Junts pel Si, which held 62 seats 以前, was 分裂(する) into parties PDeCat and ERC for the 投票 as they are ありそうもない to run on a 選び出す/独身 壇・綱領・公約. The two would 勝利,勝つ between 54 and 58 seats in total, the 投票 showed.

At Sunday's 決起大会/結集させる, former European 議会 大統領,/社長 Josep Borrell called for unionist 投票者s to turn out in December to 確実にする independence 支持者s lose their stranglehold on the 地域の 議会.

"Maybe we're here because many of us during 選挙s didn't go and 投票(する). Now we have a golden 適切な時期. This time, nobody should stay at home," Borrell said to 元気づける (人が)群がるs.

DAMAGE TO CATALONIA

Puigdemont called on Saturday for 平和的な 対立 to Madrid's 引き継ぎ/買収. But he was vague on 正確に what steps the 脱退論者s would take as Spanish 当局 move into Barcelona to 施行する 支配(する)/統制する.

European countries, the 部隊d 明言する/公表するs and Mexico have also 拒絶するd the Catalan 宣言 of independence and 表明するd support for Spain's まとまり.

But emotions are running high and the next few days will be tricky for Madrid as it 乗る,着手するs on 施行するing direct 支配する and putting 公式の/役人s in 行政の 役割s. 国家の police were (刑事)被告 of 激しい-handedness during the Oct. 1 国民投票.

Officers of the 地域の police 軍隊, called the Mossos d'Esquadra in Catalan, were 駅/配置するd in main public and 政府 buildings on Sunday.

But the 軍隊 is believed to have divided 忠義s. The central 政府 has 除去するd the Mossos' 長,指導者, Josep Lluis Trapero, and said 部隊s could be 取って代わるd if 令状d.

In an open letter on Sunday, 内部の 大臣 Juan Ignacio Zoido 賞賛するd the Mossos for their work and 勧めるd them to 受託する 一時的な direction from Madrid.

The main 脱退論者 group, the Catalan 国家の 議会, has 勧めるd civil servants not to follow orders from the central 政府 and to 開始する "平和的な 抵抗", while the プロの/賛成の-independence 貿易(する) union CSC has called a strike.

Puigdemont, Junqueras and their 助言者s left the Catalan 政府 offices on Friday, newspaper La Vanguardia 報告(する)/憶測d on Sunday, 効果的に 手渡すing the building over to Madrid and making a 軍隊d eviction on Monday いっそう少なく likely.

Since the return of 僕主主義 in the late 1970s Spain has 苦しむd several traumatic episodes, 含むing an 試みる/企てるd 軍の クーデター in 1981, a violent Basque 分離主義者 衝突, and more recently an 経済的な 危機. The Catalan 問題/発行する is however the biggest challenge to the 領土の 正直さ of what is now a 進歩/革新的な European Union nation.

The 大混乱 has 誘発するd an exodus of 商売/仕事s from Catalonia, which 与える/捧げるs about a fifth of Spain's economy, the four th-largest in the euro zone. 観光旅行,事業 to Barcelona has been 攻撃する,衝突する and markets have darted up and 負かす/撃墜する on the 急速な/放蕩な-moving 開発s.

European leaders have also 公然と非難するd the 押し進める, 恐れるing it could fan 分離主義者 感情 around the continent. (報告(する)/憶測ing by Sonya Dowsett in Barcelona and Paul Day and Tomas Cobos in Madrid; 令状ing by Paul Day; Editing by Angus MacSwan and Catherine Evans)
