団体／死体s of mother clutching baby 設立する as Indonesia 地震 （死傷者）数 rises above 1,500

PALU, Indonesia, Oct 5 (Reuters) - A week after a major 地震 brought 荒廃 to Indonesia's Sulawesi island, Ichsan Hidayat told how the 団体／死体s of his sister and her 43-day-old daughter were 設立する under a sea of mud and 破片, the mother clutching her baby to her chest.
Hidayat was not on Sulawesi last Friday when the 7.5 magnitude 地震 struck, 誘発する／引き起こすing a 現象 called 国／地域 liquefaction, which turns the ground into a roiling quagmire.
The neighbourhood of Petobo, in the south of the city of Palu, where his sister, Husnul Hidayat, lived with her daughter, Aisah, was wiped out.

"Today, I prayed that they are in a better place. They deserve better," Hidayat told Reuters as he left Friday 祈りs at a イスラム教寺院 in the centre of Palu, 1,500 km (930 miles) northeast of Indonesia's 資本／首都, Jakarta.
Worshippers knelt to pray on red carpets put 負かす／撃墜する outside the イスラム教寺院 as the building is 危険な 予定 to 地震 損失.
Indonesia has the world's biggest イスラム教徒 全住民 but also pockets of Christians, 含むing on Sulawesi, and other 宗教s.
The 公式の／役人 death （死傷者）数 from the 地震 and the 津波 it 誘発する／引き起こすd stands at 1,571, but it will certainly rise as 団体／死体s are 回復するd.
Most of the dead have been 設立する in Palu. 人物／姿／数字s for more remote areas, some still 削減（する） off by destroyed roads and 地滑りs, are only trickling in, if at all.
No one knows how many people were dragged to their deaths when the ground under Petobo and nearby areas south of Palu, 解散させるd so violently.
The 国家の 災害 機関 says 1,700 homes in one neighbourhood alone were swallowed up and hundreds of people killed.
Hasnah, 44, also a 居住（者） of Petobo, has trouble remembering all of the 親族s she's trying to find in the 絡まるd expanse of mud and 破片.
< p>"More than half of my family are gone," Hasnah said as she sobbed. "I can´t even count how many. Two of my children are gone, my cousins, my sister, my brother in 法律 and their children, all gone."Homes were sucked into the earth, torn apart and shunted hundreds of metres by the churning mud.
"The earth was like a blender, blending everything in its way," said Hasnah, who like many Indonesians goes by only one 指名する.
'THEY LIED'
Hasnah said she has enough food and water but she's furious that a search and 救助（する） 操作／手術 in her area only began on Thursday.
"They said they would come with the 激しい machines but they didn´t," she said. "They lied."
Sick of waiting for help, 村人s themselves have been searching, Hasnah said.
"We´ve 示すd the possible 団体／死体s with sticks. You can see a foot sticking out, but there's no one here to dig them out."
救助（する） 労働者s retrieved several 団体／死体s later on Friday.
The first 調印するs of 回復 are evident in Palu. Electricity has been 回復するd and some shops and banks have 再開するd and 援助（する） and 燃料 are arriving.
副大統領 Jusuf Kalla, visiting the 災害 zone, said 回復 would be 完全にするd in two years, beginning with a two-month 緊急 返答 段階 when everyone who lost their house would get 一時的な 避難所.
Doctors have been flocking to help from other parts of Indonesia.
The Budi Agung hospital has a capacity of 134 beds with about 20 more 始める，決める up in a テント outside. They are all 十分な.
Doctors said many 患者s have been at high 危険 of 感染 because they were buried in mud.
"The number and nature of 傷害s were far worse because of the liquefaction and mud," said one doctor, Muhammad Riendra.

村人s 急ぐd a Red Cross ヘリコプター that landed at Sirenja village 近づく the epicentre of last Friday's 地震, about 75 km (45 miles) north of Palu, to 減少（する） off 供給（する）s.
Some 地震 損失 was evident but the coast did not appear to have been 乱打するd by the 津波, a Reuters photographer said.
供給（する）s were also dropped by ヘリコプター in four 孤立するd areas south of Palu, the 政府 said.
Sulawesi is one of the 群島 nation's five main islands, and like the others, is exposed to たびたび（訪れる） 地震s and 津波.
In 2004, a 地震 off Sumatra island 誘発する／引き起こすd a 津波 across the Indian Ocean that killed 226,000 people in 13 countries, 含むing more than 120,000 in Indonesia.
