Congolese doctor, Yazidi 行動主義者, 支持する/優勝者s in fight against 強姦 in war, 勝利,勝つ Nobel Peace Prize

BUKAVU, Democratic 共和国 of Congo/CAMBRIDGE, Massachusetts/OSLO, Oct 5 (Reuters) - D enis Mukwege, a doctor who helps 犠牲者s of 性の 暴力/激しさ in the Democratic 共和国 of Congo, and Nadia Murad, a Yazidi 権利s 行動主義者 and 生存者 of 性の slavery by Islamic 明言する/公表する, won the 2018 Nobel Peace Prize on Friday.

They were honoured for their 成果/努力s to end the use of 性の 暴力/激しさ as a 武器 of war, the Norwegian Nobel 委員会 said.

"Denis Mukwege is the helper who has 充てるd his life to defending these 犠牲者s. Nadia Murad is the 証言,証人/目撃する who tells of the 乱用s (罪などを)犯すd against herself and others," the 委員会 said in its citation.

"Each of them in their own way has helped to give greater visibility to war-time 性の 暴力/激しさ, so that the 悪党/犯人s can be held accountable for their 活動/戦闘s."

Mukwege 長,率いるs the Panzi Hospital in the eastern Congo city of Bukavu. The clinic receives thousands of women each year, many of them 要求するing 外科 from 性の 暴力/激しさ.

Murad is an 支持する for the Yazidi 少数,小数派 in Iraq and for 難民 and women's 権利s in general. She was enslaved and 強姦d by Islamic 明言する/公表する 闘士,戦闘機s in Mosul, Iraq, in 2014.

"強姦 in war has been a 罪,犯罪 for centuries. But it was a 罪,犯罪 in the 影をつくる/尾行するs. The two laureates have both shone a light on it," Dan Smith, Director of the Stockholm International Peace 研究 学校/設ける (SIPRI), told Reuters.

Mukwege, a past 勝利者 of the 国際連合 Human 権利s Prize and the European 議会's Sakharov Prize, 献身的な his Nobel award to all women 影響する/感情d by 強姦 and 性の 暴力/激しさ.

He has 成し遂げるd 外科 on 得点する/非難する/20s of women after they had been 強姦d by 武装した men, and (選挙などの)運動をするd to 最高潮の場面 their 苦境. He also 供給するs HIV/エイズ 治療 同様に as 解放する/自由な maternal care.

Although the Second Congo War, which killed more than five million people, formall y ended in 2003, 暴力/激しさ remains はびこる, with 民兵s frequently 的ing 非軍事のs.

The Panzi Hospital has also been the 的 of 脅しs, and in 2012 Mukwege's home was 侵略するd by 武装した men who held his daughters 銃をつきつけて, 発射 at him and killed his 護衛.

Later, speaking at a news 会議/協議会 at the hospital, he said the prize was an important 承認 of many women's 外傷/ショック.

"Dear 生存者s all over the world, I would like to tell you that through this prize, the world is listening to you and 拒絶するs 無関心/冷淡, the world 辞退するs to stand idly by in the 直面する of your 苦しむing," he said.

Wivine Moleka, a member of Congo's 判決,裁定 PPRD party, said Mukwege was more than just a doctor.

"He is a humanist who has taken the 苦痛 of women into consideration, 苦痛 in their flesh and in their soul. The prize sends a strong signal to everyone about these women who are 強姦d every day," she said.

SURVIVAL

Murad said she 株d the award "with all Yazidis with all the Iraqis, Kurds and all the 少数,小数派s and all 生存者s of 性の 暴力/激しさ around the world".

"For myself, I think of my mother, who was 殺人d by Daesh," she said said in a 声明 to Reuters, using an Arabic 称する,呼ぶ/期間/用語 for Islamic 明言する/公表する.

Murad was 21-years-old in 2014 when Islamic 明言する/公表する 交戦的なs attacked the village where she had grown up in northern Iraq. The 交戦的なs killed those who 辞退するd to 変える to Islam, 含むing six of her brothers and her mother.

Along with many of the other young women in her village, she was taken into 捕らわれた by the 交戦的なs, and sold 繰り返して for sex as part of Islamic 明言する/公表する's slave 貿易(する).

She escaped 捕らわれた with the help of a Sunni イスラム教徒 family in Mosul, then IS's de facto 資本/首都 in Iraq, and became an 支持する for the 権利s of her community around the world.

In 2017, Murad published a memoir of her ordeal, "The Last Girl". She recounted in harrowing 詳細(に述べる) her months in 捕らわれた, her escape and her 旅行 to activism.

"At some point, there was 強姦 and nothing else. This becomes your normal day," she wrote.

The 国際連合 has called the 強襲,強姦s 開始する,打ち上げるd by the Sunni 交戦的なs against the 宗教的な 少数,小数派 in northern Iraq a (選挙などの)運動をする of 集団殺戮.

Iraqi 総理大臣 Haider al-Abadi congratulated her on the award, and Vian Dakhil, a Yazidi member of Iraq's 議会, said: "It is the victory of good and peace over the 軍隊s of 不明瞭."

Murad, who is also a Sakharov Prize 勝利者, is the second youngest Nobel Prize laureate after Malala Yousafzai.

SPEAK UP

The award follows a year in which the 乱用 and 虐待 of women in all walks of life across the globe has been a 焦点(を合わせる) of attention.

Asked whether the #metoo movement, a 目だつ women's 権利s 行動主義者 会議, was an inspiration for this year's prize, Nobel 委員会 Chairwoman Berit Reiss-Andersen said: "Metoo and war 罪,犯罪s are not やめる the same. But they have in ありふれた that they see the 苦しむing of women, the 乱用 of women and that it is important that women leave the 概念 of shame behind and speak up."

U.N. 長官-General Antonio Guterres said the award was part of a growing movement to 認める the 暴力/激しさ and 不正 直面するd by women.

"Let us honour these new Nobel laureates by standing up for 犠牲者s of 性の 暴力/激しさ everywhere," he said in a 声明.

The prize will be 現在のd in Oslo on Dec. 10, the 周年記念日 of the death of Swedish industrialist Alfred Nobel, who 設立するd the awards in his 1895 will.
