After data スキャンダルs, Australia 直面するs an 選挙 under 激しい profiling

SYDNEY/SAN FRANCISCO, May 5 (Reuters) - Australian 政党s are using 投票者 email 演説（する）／住所s to find matching social マスコミ profiles then 連合させるing them with the country's compulsory 選挙（人）の roll data, illustrating how privacy スキャンダルs have done little to slow the march of data-driven （選挙などの）運動をするing.
While the use of data and public profiles from Facebook, Twitter and other social マスコミ for political （選挙などの）運動をするing has become 普及した globally, Australia is one of the most open countries in the world to online （警察などへの）密告，告訴（状） 集会 by political operatives.
"Most Australians have little idea about how many data points organisations like 政党s, let alone Facebook, have on each of them," said Glenn Kefford, a political scientist at Macquarie University who has written extensively about data-driven （選挙などの）運動をするing.
"They would be shocked and probably disgusted."
Australia, which goes to the 投票s on May 18, is one of the few Western 僕主主義s where 投票（する）ing is compulsory.
What's more, Australian 政党s and 候補者s are 免除された from privacy 法律s covering 接近 to the 選挙（人）の roll data - 十分な 指名するs and 演説（する）／住所s - that all 16 million 投票者s are 要求するd to 供給する.
In the 部隊d 明言する／公表するs, just 60 パーセント of adults are 登録（する）d to 投票（する）, 限界ing the number of 投票者s whose 選挙（人）の roll （警察などへの）密告，告訴（状） can be dragged into a data profile.

Australia's 政府, however, 拒絶するd calls for a review of its 控除 from privacy 法律s.

"It's a very delicate line between 革新 and privacy," Cowan-Brown said. "The way 顧客s are innovating is very 冷静な／正味の and we don't want to stifle that."

NationBuilder is trying to 回復する 接近 to Facebook event RSVPs, the only data it uses that is 影響する／感情d by the new 政策, said Cowan-Brown. Unlike Cambridge Analytica, the 会社／堅い does not pull data on a person's emotions or habits, Cowan-Brown 追加するd.
NationBuilder 顧客s can also collect the 指名するs of people who "like" or comment on their Facebook 地位，任命するs.

MARKETERS DREAM
The major parties also prospect for email 演説（する）／住所s with social マスコミ "嘆願（書）s" about hot-button topics, some collecting emails 演説（する）／住所s without a person typing it, thanks to other ソフトウェア linked to the person's Facebook account.
"It is a wet dream for marketers," said Curtis Harrison, a NationBuilder 顧問 who has worked on Australian political （選挙などの）運動をするs for five years.
"You start off with an email 演説（する）／住所, and once you get that email 演説（する）／住所 you get a 指名する. And once you get a 指名する you get a phone number. Once you get that phone number you get more and more and more."
弁護士／代理人／検事-General Christian Porter said in an email the 控除 was "designed to encourage freedom of political communication and support the 操作／手術 of the 選挙（人）の and political 過程". He did not 答える／応じる to a question about whether 政治家，政治屋s had 接近 to too much 投票者 data.
A 広報担当者 for the Labor Party's 影をつくる／尾行する 弁護士／代理人／検事 general, 示す Dreyfus, said the political 控除 was "put in place to 容易にする political 約束／交戦, which is a 創立／基礎 of our system of 代表者／国会議員 僕主主義".
When the Australian Labor Party 地位，任命するd on Facebook a ビデオ of two of its leaders bantering on a （選挙などの）運動をする bus last month, artist Jaymie Faber was one of 1,600 people who clicked "like", automatically sending the party's NationBuilder database her 指名する and Facebook photo.
From there, the party could manually enter her public profile （警察などへの）密告，告訴（状）, which 含むd her 雇用 状況／情勢 and home city, to match with 選挙（人）の roll （警察などへの）密告，告訴（状）.
"While I never ーするつもりであるd for the （警察などへの）密告，告訴（状） to be collected into a database, I also 受託する that I had the knowledge that it could be a 可能性," Faber told Reuters.
