偽の mews? 混乱 over cat at Thai king's 載冠(式)/即位(式) 儀式

BANGKOK, May 5 (Reuters) - Animal lovers in Thailand were thrown into 混乱 on Sunday over whether a Siamese cat 現在のd to the newly 栄冠を与えるd Thai king and his queen was a living feline - or not.

Thailand is 持つ/拘留するing three days of 載冠(式)/即位(式) events for King Maha Vajiralongkorn, 66, who was 公式に 栄冠を与えるd on Saturday in (a)手の込んだ/(v)詳述する 儀式s.

It is tradition at 王室の 載冠(式)/即位(式)s to 現在の a cat - 同様に as several 象徴的な 世帯 items - to a new 君主 as part of the 私的な 仮定/引き受けること of the 王室の 住居 blessing 儀式, which was held on Saturday at the Chakrabat Biman 住居.

Cats are considered lucky by many Thais and the tradition of giving one as a housewarming gift signifies a stable home.

On Sunday morning, several Thai マスコミ 出口s carried a photo of two 制服を着た palace 公式の/役人s next to what appeared to be a docile Siamese cat and a fluffy white rooster. The image, 分配するd by the Bureau of the 王室の 世帯, was not captioned.

But by afternoon, the Thai-language news 場所/位置 経営者/支配人 was 報告(する)/憶測ing that the palace had used a "cat doll" instead of a live cat.

A palace 公式の/役人, 接触するd by Reuters, said: "The 王室の 儀式 要求するd the use of a rooster and a cat. It should not be the 焦点(を合わせる) whether the animals were real or not, but instead the ritual itself is important."

Reuters was unable to 独立して 確認する whether live animals were used in the 儀式 or the photograph.

"This is likely a stuffed cat," 使用者 Prapaporn Tongprasan said.

Thailand has strict lese majeste 法律s carrying 刑務所,拘置所 宣告,判決s of up to 15 years for 侮辱ing the king, queen or the 相続人-明らかな.

Historical images of the 1926 載冠(式)/即位(式) of King Rama VII, the 現在の 君主's 広大な/多数の/重要な uncle, show a group photo with 女性(の) members of the 王室の family 持つ/拘留するing both a Siamese cat - a 産む/飼育する that 起こる/始まるd in Thailand - 同様に as a rooster.

The tradition of using cats in 王室の 世帯 儀式s dates 支援する centuries, said historian and writer Sujane Kanparit.

"The meaning of having a cat is that it brings warmth to the 世帯. It is an old 法廷,裁判所 tradition that has appeared in the 王室の chronicles," he told Reuters.

Asked if the cat in the palace photo was alive or a doll, Sujane said: "I have no idea."
