New telescope 明らかにする/漏らすs sun's surface in closest 詳細(に述べる) yet

Jan 30 (Reuters) - Images from a powerful new telescope 任命する/導入するd on 最高の,を越す of a 火山 in Hawaii show the surface of the sun in the closest 詳細(に述べる) yet, 明らかにする/漏らすing features as small as 30km (18 miles) across.

They were 逮捕(する)d by the 国家の Science 創立/基礎's (NSF) Daniel K. Inouye Solar Telescope, which sits at around 10,000 feet (3,000 metres) above sea level 近づく the 首脳会議 of Haleakala 火山 in Maui, Hawaii.

The telescope, which features the world's largest solar 4-メーター (13 feet) mirror, could enable a greater understanding of the sun and its 衝撃 on our 惑星, によれば the 国家の Solar 観測所, a public 研究 学校/設ける headquartered in 玉石, Colorado.

A pattern of 騒然とした, "boiling" gas is shown covering the sun, which is some 93 million miles from Earth.

Inside 明白な 独房-like structures, each around the size of the U.S. 明言する/公表する of Texas, hot plasma can be seen rising before 冷静な/正味のing off and 沈むing below the surface in dark 小道/航路s, as part of a 過程 called convection.

Markers of 磁石の fields are also 明白な with new clarity, the NSO said.

熟考する/考慮するing the sun's activity, or "space 天候", can help scientists 予報する problems on Earth. 磁石の 爆発s on the sun can 混乱に陥れる/中断させる 衛星s, 無能にする GPS, 衝撃 空気/公表する travel, bring 負かす/撃墜する 力/強力にする grids and 原因(となる) 灯火管制/停電s.

"This telescope will 改善する our understanding of what 運動s space 天候 and 最終的に help 予報官s better 予報する solar 嵐/襲撃するs," said フラン C?rdova, NSF director. (報告(する)/憶測ing by George Sargent; Editing by マイク Collett-White)
