DAKAR, Jan 30 (Thomson Reuters 創立/基礎) - Senegal 目的(とする)s to 移行 toward eco-farming on a 国家の 規模 to 保護する its food 供給(する) from the 影響s of 気候 change, the 農業 大臣 said on Thursday.

増加するing 干ばつs and rising 気温s have taken a (死傷者)数 on 刈る 生産/産物 across West Africa's Sahel 地域, 追加するing to the 強調する/ストレスs of a growing 全住民 and land overuse.

専門家s see Senegal as a 地域の leader on agroecology - the use of natural methods to 演説(する)/住所 land degradation - though public 補助金s have led to overuse of 化学製品 fertilizers.

"The goal is to 改善する family farming to 増加する the food 供給(する), raise incomes and become more resilient to 気候 change," said the 大臣, Moussa Balde, at an agroecology event in the 資本/首都 Dakar.

"We can't destroy our fields by farming. 維持できる 農業 ... is the 大統領,/社長's 見通し," he told the Thomson Reuters 創立/基礎.

About half Senegal's 16 million people live in 田舎の areas, によれば the World Bank, and they are 大部分は 扶養家族 on subsistence farming.

More than 2.5 million people in Senegal are 予報するd to be at 危険 of not having enough food this year, with another 700,000 in 危機 段階 or worse, によれば 地域の 発射/推定s by the Food 危機 予防 網状組織.

Senegal's 政府 has ひどく subsidised 化学製品 fertilisers in an 成果/努力 to 上げる 生産/産物 over the last two 10年間s, which 専門家s said has degraded the 国/地域 and left many 農業者s without knowledge of 代案/選択肢 methods.

"The 農業者s are 利益/興味d in agroecology as a 解答 to 改善する their 暮らしs," said Raphael Belmin, an agronomist at the French 農業の 研究 centre CIRAD in Dakar.

"In the past 50 years they have seen the degradation and have understood that the next 世代 will 支払う/賃金," said Belmin, who 連係させた a 政策 提案 for the 政府.

移行ing to agroecology will 伴う/関わる 工場/植物ing trees on farms, diversifying 刈る 生産/産物, using 有機の fertilisers and 回転/交替ing 刈るs to 改善する 国/地域 質, he said.

Much of this is already 存在 done, but needs to be 規模d up, and 支持するs hope the 政府 will 可決する・採択する new 政策s such as 補助金を支給するing 有機の instead of 化学製品 fertilisers.

"I think all the 条件s are there for Senegal to be a 操縦する country in agroecology," said Mariam (種を)蒔く, director of ENDA Pronat, a Senegalese organisation 主要な the (選挙などの)運動をする.

But challenges will 含む resisting the powerful 産業 ロビー.

"There are a lot of vested 利益/興味s that want to keep selling fertilisers and pesticides," said Emile Frison, member of the Brussels-based International パネル盤 of 専門家s on 維持できる Food Systems.
