Paralympics-IPC 苦しむing cashflow 問題/発行するs after Games 延期

By Jack Tarrant

TOKYO, April 8 (Reuters) - After the 延期 of the Tokyo 2020 Games に引き続いて the coronavirus 突発/発生, Paralympics 長,指導者 Andrew Parsons is 焦点(を合わせる)d on 強固にする/合併する/制圧するing losses and 保護するing smaller 国家の 連合s stung by the change.

The 決定/判定勝ち(する) was made last month to 延期する the Games until the summer of 2021 because of the 衝撃 of COVID-19, which has so far killed over 81,000 people 世界的な.

It means that the Tokyo Paralympics will now run from Aug. 24 - Sep. 5, 2021.

It has left the International Paralympic 委員会 (IPC) with a cashflow 問題/発行する as 放送者s and other partners look to defer planned 支払い(額)s until next year.

"One 即座の 衝撃 of the Games 延期 is change of cashflow," Parsons said during a teleconference with 新聞記者/雑誌記者s on Wednesday.

"We have nearly, this week, 完全にするd an 演習 reviewing more than 150 契約s that are Games-関係のある.

"One example is the 放送者s; we won´t have the Games until 2021 so some of them already asked if they can 延期する final 支払い(額)s to 2021, which we can of course understand.

"All of our partners have been hugely supportive. The message is that we are all in the same boat, 衝撃d by this terrible 病気."

Parsons did not 明らかにする how much money was on the line but 強調する/ストレスd that he hasn't turned to the International Olympic 委員会 for support.

"We are trying to solve the 問題/発行するs internally," he said.

In turn, Parsons and the IPC 手配中の,お尋ね者 to 配列し直す かかわり合いs made by themselves and さまざまな 国家の 委員会s this summer.

"Cancelled events and changed 計画(する)s come at a cost to our members, who are 普通は not big and rich organisations. So, they are not 免疫の to the 財政上の problems that come with COVID-19," explained Parsons.

"Some have already paid 入ること/参加(者) 料金s, hotels and tickets for events that have been cancelled so we are helping them with that and liaising wi th the 地元の organising 委員会 on how some of this money can go 支援する to the 国家の Paralympic 委員会s."

"The best 事例/患者 シナリオ for us, when it comes to accommodation, is that the hotels where there is already an 協定 for this year... they can 申し込む/申し出 the same service next year without having to 告発(する),告訴(する)/料金 a 刑罰,罰則 料金."

ACCESSIBLE HOTELS

Another 最高の,を越す 優先 for Parsons is making sure that 進歩 に向かって making Tokyo a more accessible city in time for the Paralympics does not 立ち往生させる.

Parsons and the have IPC 終始一貫して relayed their 関心s that Tokyo does not have enough accessible rooms.

The Tokyo 主要都市の 政府 says 850 accessible hotel rooms will be needed for 新規加入 to the 競技者s village during the Paralympics but they are 現在/一般に short of that.

The IPC has been working with 存在するing hotels to build new accessible rooms.

まっただ中に the coronavirus 突発/発生, hotels are struggling and Parsons is keen they do not lose 焦点(を合わせる) on accessibility goals.

"When the Games finally start next year then we still want the Tokyo Olympics to be a catalyst for change in society. We must 確実にする that this 焦点(を合わせる) in not lost," said Parsons.

"We cannot lose the 焦点(を合わせる) on accessible accommodation. Some hotels were 用意が出来ている to adjust and adapt and with this 延期 they might lose 焦点(を合わせる) on that.

"It took a lot of time and 成果/努力 to get this ball moving and so we don´t want to go 支援する because of the 延期." (報告(する)/憶測ing by Jack Tarrant; Editing by Ken Ferris)
