UK PM Johnson resists calls to 解雇(する) Cummings over 400 km 運動

LONDON, May 23 (Reuters) - British 総理大臣 Boris Johnson resisted calls on Saturday from 野党s to 解雇(する) 上級の 助言者 Dominic Cummings after he travelled 400 km (250 miles) to northern England while his wife showed COVID-19 symptoms.

Cummings, who 操るd the 2016 (選挙などの)運動をする to leave the European Union during the Brexit 国民投票, travelled to Durham in late March, when a strict lockdown was already in place.

Johnson's office said Cummings made the 旅行 to 確実にする his 4-year-old son could be 適切に cared for as his wife was ill with COVID-19 and there was a "high 見込み" that Cummings would himself become unwell.

"I behaved reasonably and 合法的に," Cummings told reporters outside his house after telling them to stay 2 metres apart in 一致 with 政府 指導基準s.

Asked if he would consider his position, he said: "明白に not." He then chided reporters for 存在 wrong about the result of the 2016 Brexit 国民投票.

"You guys are probably all about as 権利 about that as you were about Brexit: do you remember how 権利 you all were about that?" Cummings said.
