Azerbaijan says it has taken Karabakh's second-largest city, Armenia 否定するs it
MOSCOW, Nov 8 (Reuters) - Azeri 大統領 Ilham Aliyev said on Sunday his country's 軍隊s had taken Shusha, the second-largest city in the Nagorno-Karabakh 飛び領土, a 声明 that Armenian 公式の／役人s 否定するd.
The city, called Shushi by Armenians, is of cultural and 戦略の importance to both 味方するs and is 位置を示すd 15 km (9 miles) south of the 飛び領土's largest city Stepanakert.
At least 1,000 people have died in nearly six weeks of fighting in and around Nagorno-Karabakh, a 山地の 飛び領土 国祭的な recognised as part of Azerbaijan but 居住させるd and controlled by 民族の Armenians.
