It was a 甘い moment for the 31-year-old former ski jumper whose hopes of winning this year's 小旅行する de フラン were snatched away in 劇の circumstances on the penultimate day.

For a while, on the final 残虐な climb to Alto de la Covatilla on Saturday, it had looked as though Roglic might let another Grand 小旅行する slip through his fingers as Ecuadorean Richard Carapaz, who 押し進めるd Roglic to the 限界 over the Spanish mountains, dropped him in a 破滅的な late attack.

But Roglic dug 深い and although his 45-second lead was 削除するd in half, he entered the final day's flat 139km roll-in to Madrid with a 24-second lead and the red jersey 安全な・保証するd barring an 前例のない 事故.

The final day of the 75th 版 of the Vuelta was left for the (短距離で)速く走る人s to strut their stuff along Madrid's eerily 静かな Paseo del Prado -- a consequence of the COVID-19 pandemic which has 大部分は locked 負かす/撃墜する the city.

After several (競技場の)トラック一周s of a 宙返り飛行 around some of the 資本/首都's 目印s, Germany's Pascal Ackermann (Bora-Hansgrohe) (警官の)巡回区域,受持ち区域 Sam Bennett in a photo-finish to 栄冠を与える a hectic few months of Grand 小旅行するs.

But the real plaudits were saved for Roglic who took four 行う/開催する/段階s in this year's race to also (人命などを)奪う,主張する the points jersey.

Former Giro d'Italia 勝利者 Carapaz did wear the red jersey for five days but once Roglic took it 支援する with a 命令(する)ing time 裁判,公判 on Tuesday he was never going to let it go, even if he 苦しむd a 抱擁する 脅す.

"The more you 勝利,勝つ the more you learn how to enjoy it but it's always a different story, it's a different race and you can't compare it," Roglic said.

"It's amazing and I'm very happy to be part of this team. It's beautiful to finish a season like this.

The Briton, who will join イスラエル Start-Up Nation, was 現在のd with the 2011 Vuelta トロフィー retrospectively before Sunday's 行う/開催する/段階 after Juan Jose Cobo was stripped of the 肩書を与える last year for 麻薬ing.

While Froome was once regarded as the world's best cyclist, that honour now belongs to Roglic.

He bounced 支援する from his 小旅行する de フラン heartbreak by winning the Liege-Baston-Liege classic last month, and has now を強調するd his 抱擁する array of 武器s in Grand 小旅行するs.
