ROME, July 7 (Reuters) - When ローマ法王 John Paul II was 認める to Rome's Gemelli hospital on July 12, 1992, he told the world himself a few hours earlier during his 正規の/正選手 Sunday 演説(する)/住所 in St. Peter's Square.

"I would like to let you in on a secret," he said before 明らかにする/漏らすing that he would enter hospital that night. His 出発 from the Vatican, the (人が)群がるs lining his motorcade 大勝する, and his arrival at the hospital's 前線 入り口 in a 黒人/ボイコット Mercedes 転換できる were broadcast on television.

When ローマ法王 Francis entered the same hospital last Sunday, the Vatican 発表するd it in a two-paragraph 声明 after he had arrived in a small car, slipped inside and already was 存在 用意が出来ている for 結腸 外科.

The two episodes show the differences in the two ローマ法王s' styles of 取引,協定ing with health, privacy and communication.

Since Francis entered the hospital on Sunday, the Vatican has 問題/発行するd five very short 声明s with 必須の (警察などへの)密告,告訴(状).

Wednesday's 声明 said his 回復 was "正規の/正選手 and 満足な," that he was eating 定期的に, no longer receiving 医薬 静脈内の, and that a 生体検査 確認するd that he had been 苦しむing from "厳しい diverticular stenosis," or a 狭くするing of the 結腸.

When John Paul was in the same hospital - nearly 10 times in his 27 years as pontiff - it was the doctors who 問題/発行するd 詳細(に述べる)d 医療の 公式発表s, talked to reporters in the ロビー and became minor celebrities on the evening news.

政治家,政治屋s and others showed up at the hospital even if they could not see John Paul. They were received by his 長官 or another Vatican 公式の/役人, 調印するd a 訪問者s' 調書をとる/予約する and 記録,記録的な/記録するd by the television cameras.

The 指導/手引 for a low-重要な hospital stay and いっそう少なく 詳細(に述べる)d 医療の 声明 is believed to come 直接/まっすぐに from Francis, who guards his privacy more closely than John Paul.

EACH POPE DIFFERENT

"Each famous person, 含むing a ローマ法王, is different," said a person who 取引,協定s with communications at a major 医療の 会・原則 in Italy.

"Hospitals are in a 貯蔵所d when 取引,協定ing with famous people because there are strict privacy 法律s but the public wants (警察などへの)密告,告訴(状). It usually 落ちるs on the 患者 to decide how much to 公表する/暴露する," said the person, who spoke on the 条件 of anonymity.

早期に on Wednesday at the Gemelli there were just two television 乗組員s and a handful of photographers. They were relegated to a parking lot and not 許すd in the ロビー.

During some of John Paul's stays, the ロビー became a マスコミ whirlwind, with television reporters trying to get sound bites from doctors, 患者s and 訪問者s.

On Wednesday morning at the Gemelli, the ロビー bustled but there was nothing to 示す that a VIP was on the 10th 床に打ち倒す of the sprawling カトリック教徒-run hospital.

A part of that 床に打ち倒す is 永久的に reserved for ローマ法王s and 含むs its own 集中的な care 部隊.

John Paul, who became ローマ法王 as a fit 58-year-old, had 非常に/多数の health 問題/発行するs during his papacy, starting with the 影響s of 存在 発射 in the abdomen by a would-be 暗殺者 on May 13, 1981 in St. Peter's Square.

During the 1992 入院 he had an 腸の tumor 除去するd. He later dislocated his shoulder, broke his femur, 苦しむd from 厳しい Parkinson's 病気 and needed a tracheotomy to help him breathe weeks before he died in 2005.

He 苦しむd at length and in public and even wrote a 文書 on how 苦しむing can bring spiritual 伸び(る).

Francis once told a reporter that in 事例/患者 of an 暗殺 試みる/企てる, he 手配中の,お尋ね者 a quick death because he is afraid of 苦痛. (報告(する)/憶測ing by Philip Pullella Editing by Alexandra Hudson)
