サッカー-England into Euros final after ending Danish dream run

LONDON, July 7 (Reuters) - England won their first 半分-final since the 1966 World Cup as Harry Kane's extra-time goal, に引き続いて up after his 刑罰,罰則 had been saved, earned a 2-1 勝利,勝つ over 戦う/戦いing Denmark on Wednesday that sent them into Sunday's Euro 2020 final against Italy.

On a night to remember in 前線 of almost 60,000 fans, most of them delirious with joy, England reached the European 選手権 final for the first time, though they had to come from behind as a Simon Kjaer own goal cancelled out Mikkel Damsgaard's superb 解放する/自由な kick for the Danes in the first half.

The home 味方する were on 最高の,を越す throughout but struggled to break 負かす/撃墜する the Danish defence, until they were awarded a 刑罰,罰則 in the 103rd-minute after Raheem 英貨の/純銀の went 負かす/撃墜する with 極小の 接触する to 許す captain Kane to decide it.

It was of course a special night for coach Gareth Southgate, whose 刑罰,罰則 shoot-out 行方不明になる sent England out of the 半分-決勝戦 of Euro 96. "We said to the players at some point we're going to have to show resilience and come 支援する from 後退s, and we did that tonight," he said. "The most pleasing thing is that we've given our fans and our nation a fantastic night and the 旅行 carries on for another four days. We've said we want to create memories I've said to the young ones 'it isn't always like this'."

It was a 堅い way for Denmark to end their emotional ride from the 恐れる and 苦しめる of Christian Eriksen´s 開始 game 崩壊(する) to their first 半分-final since their shock Euro 92 勝利,勝つ, but their exhausted players left Wembley with socks rolled 負かす/撃墜する but 長,率いるs held high. "I am proud of this group and everyone who has been on this 旅行. It has been fantastic to be 伴う/関わるd. I am hungry and empty, but I am also proud," said Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.

CROWD STUNNED

England had reached the 半分s without 譲歩するing a goal and it needed something special to pierce their rearguard as Damsgaard 解雇する/砲火/射撃d a powe rful, dipping 25-yard 解放する/自由な kick over the 塀で囲む and beyond the 飛び込み Jordan Pickford -- the tournament's first goal direct from a 解放する/自由な kick -- after 30 minutes. The (人が)群がる were stunned, that had not been in the script, and the question of how England would 答える/応じる to their first real 後退 would now be 演説(する)/住所d.

The answer was calmly and 根気よく, as they passed their way 支援する into the ascendancy. 英貨の/純銀の was 否定するd at point-blank 範囲 by Kasper Schmeichel before the 39th-minute equaliser, when Bukayo Saka 攻撃する,衝突する the byline and fizzed over a low cross that Kjaer bundled over his own line in his 試みる/企てる to stop the ball reaching 英貨の/純銀の.

Schmeichel was on 手渡す again with an excellent 飛び込み save to palm away a Harry Maguire header and England began to turn the screw in the second half, but, にもかかわらず their relentless passing and 調査(する)ing around the box, they struggled to carve out a (疑いを)晴らす 開始 and the match rolled into extra time.

The extra 30 minutes became a 事実上の attack v defence 演習, as Schmeichel saved again from Kane and Jack Grealish.

英貨の/純銀の continued to 運動 into the box and was 結局 brought 負かす/撃墜する by Joakim Maehle for the VAR-reviewed 刑罰,罰則 that Kane struck 貧しく and Schmeichel 封鎖するd, only for the captain to tuck home the 回復する.

England then had to 交渉する the last 15 minutes and managed it to 誘発する the loudest, and surely most 確信して rendition of "Football's Coming Home", ever to (犯罪の)一味 around Wembley.

They still 直面する a monumental final 障害物 if they are to match the boys of '66 and end the now-55 years of 傷つける but they will take on Italy with total belief that they can do so. (報告(する)/憶測ing by Mitch Phillips, editing by Toby Davis)
