OTTAWA, Sept 9 (Reuters) - With いっそう少なく than two weeks before Canadians 投票(する) in a 連邦の 選挙, the race is too の近くに to call. But what is 確かな is that for the first time in 最近の memory, no 事柄 which party 勝利,勝つs, the 政府 spending taps will be wide open.

The 判決,裁定 自由主義のs and the 競争相手 保守的なs are both 約束ing tens of billions of dollars in 投資s if they 勝利 in the Sept. 20 投票(する). Canada's two main parties say the spending is needed to 戦う/戦い the 影響s of a fourth wave of COVID-19 and kick-start an 経済的な 回復.

経済学者s, however, 警告する that the 負債 and 予算 赤字s that will …を伴って the higher spending could leave Canadians with a hangover that lasts 10年間s when 利益/興味 率s climb from the 現在の ultra-low levels.

"投票者s should be aware of the fact that 赤字s do 事柄. They will cost money," said Craig Alexander, 長,指導者 経済学者 at Deloitte Canada.

"The 負債 service costs for these 赤字s and the 蓄積するd 負債 is going to (問題を)取り上げる 会計の capacity 負かす/撃墜する the road," said Alexander, who supports 的d spending.

Canada's 保守的なs, who tend to be more parsimonious than the other parties, 明らかにする/漏らすd late on Wednesday that their (選挙などの)運動をする 約束s would cost more than C$51 billion ($40 billion) over five years without a hint of a balanced 連邦の 予算 in that timeline.

The 中心-left 自由主義のs, 一方/合間, have 提案するd C$78 billion in new spending. The 保守的なs say they would 減ずる the 赤字 by about C$7 billion more than the 自由主義のs by 2026, おもに thanks to their 計画(する)s to 除去する the 国家の daycare program.

The spending that 自由主義の 総理大臣 Justin Trudeau embraced to 茎・取り除く the fallout from the coronavirus pandemic is 事業/計画(する)d to 押し進める Canada's 逮捕する 負債 to a 記録,記録的な/記録する C$1.38 一兆 by 2025. The 保守的なs did not 供給する numbers for how their spending 計画(する) would 衝撃 the 国家の 負債.

A 近づく-負債 cr isis in the 早期に 1990s, 燃料d in part by 大規模な 政府 spending in the 1970s and 1980s, 転換d Canada's political landscape in 好意 of balanced 予算s and 慎重な 財政政策 over big spending.

But Canadians regarded the pandemic-関係のある spending, and with it 大規模な 赤字s, as 正当化するd, said 世論調査員 Nick Nanos, 長,率いる of Nanos 研究. Any talk of balanced 予算s has become more an afterthought, at least for many 投票者s.

The worry is that S&P 全世界の Ratings and Moody's 投資家s Service, two of the main ratings 機関s, could follow Fitch Ratings' 決定/判定勝ち(する) last year to 削減(する) Canada's 3倍になる-A credit 率ing if 赤字s become more 構造上の in nature rather than cyclical.

That would likely 増加する 負債 servicing costs, which could lead to higher 税金s or 政府 spending 削減(する)s.

REIN IT IN

Before the pandemic, Trudeau had relaxed his 焦点(を合わせる) on the 赤字 and 的d a lowering of the 負債-to-GDP 割合 to below 30%. 自由主義のs say that 割合, now above 50%, will still slowly come 負かす/撃墜する にもかかわらず Trudeau 約束ing https://www.reuters.com/world/americas/canadas-判決,裁定-自由主義のs-誓約(する)-billions-new-投資s-選挙-近づくs-2021-09-01 billions more on 最高の,を越す of the C$101.4 billion 刺激 予算d https://www.reuters.com/world/americas/canada-予算-rolls-out-地位,任命する-pandemic-spending-計画(する)-ahead-likely-選挙-2021-04-19 in April.

The 自由主義のs, who 現在/一般に have a 少数,小数派 政府 that relies on the 対立 to pass 法律制定, 追跡する the 保守的なs 30.6% to 32.6% in the 最新の Nanos 投票, with 20.3% for the left-leaning New 民主党員s, who also 好意 more 政府 spending.

The economy, which 成し遂げるd worse than 推定する/予想するd in the second 4半期/4分の1, is a 最高の,を越す 関心 for all 投票者s, 投票s show, though 赤字s are more of a worry for those who 普通は cast a 投票(する) for the 保守的なs.

Nanos said Canadians "just don't like 過度に large 赤字s, and they get a little uncomfortable when they see 赤字s as 存在 part of the regula r 操作/手術 default of a 政府."

保守的な leader Erin O'道具 has walked a tightrope, ばく然と 約束ing to balance the 予算 within the next 10年間 without major 削減(する)s, while 誓約(する)ing new spending.

On Wednesday, the 保守的なs said they would do better than the 自由主義のs in lowering 赤字s over the next five years, in part by 除去するing Trudeau's expensive 国家の childcare https://www.reuters.com/world/americas/運命/宿命-国家の-daycare-手渡すs-canadian-投票者s-2021-09-02 program.

経済学者s say 刺激 should be 焦点(を合わせる)d on 率先s that 上げる competitiveness, like 数字表示式の 組織/基盤/下部構造, along with social spending that 増加するs labor 軍隊 参加, like 基金ing childcare.

"I think the narrative around building 支援する better needs to be rooted in how are we going to make the Canadian economy more 競争の激しい and more dynamic, and give it an 辛勝する/優位 over its international peers," Alexander said. ($1 = 1.2681 Canadian dollars)
