Can I 埋め立てる £1,273 after mice chewed cables in my loft? SALLY SORTS IT
I am at my wits’ end trying to sort an 問題/発行する with HomeServe and getting nowhere. I have been a 顧客 of the 緊急 修理s company for more than two 10年間s, 支払う/賃金ing it to cover my electrics and plumbing against 災害. Until now, I had never made a (人命などを)奪う,主張する.?
The first time I do, after mice ate through electric cables in my loft, it won’t reimburse me for £1,273 of 緊急 work. I feel upset, and trying to sort it out has made a stressful 状況/情勢 worse. Please help.
A.J., Suffolk.
HomeServe won't reimburse you for 緊急 修理 work to cables 損失d by mice, even though you are covered on your 政策, 令状s Sally Hamilton
Sally Hamilton replies:?You explained to me that before Christmas your house electrics 削減(する) out 完全に, which was fr ightening as you live alone and were just 回復するing after a long stint in hospital. You called out a 井戸/弁護士席-尊敬(する)・点d 地元の electrician the same day who 復帰させるd some of the 力/強力にする.
He returned a few days later to 調査/捜査する in 詳細(に述べる). It seemed that some pesky rodents had got into your roof space and chewed through cables, which meant some rewiring was 要求するd.
The electrician said your fuse box also needed updating to 会合,会う modern 規則s and, for safety’s sake, he adjusted your home’s system in such a way as to make it easier to 孤立する areas of the electrics if something fused again.
You felt the 法案 wasn’t extortionate for the work carried out, but still had to borrow the money from a friend ― who you are 支払う/賃金ing 支援する 月毎の.
On checking your HomeServe 政策, which costs £7.93 a month for plumbing and electrics, you saw that under the section ‘things that are covered’, both rewiring and fuse boxes are 含むd, which was a 広大な/多数の/重要な 救済.?
You had 以前 checked your home 保険, but 損失 by rodents is typically not covered by most home 政策s, 反して home 緊急 計画(する)s, like yours, may cover such events.
You sent the 関連した paperwork to HomeServe. It then 需要・要求するd a more 詳細(に述べる)d invoice, which the electrician 供給(する)d. This wasn’t enough, 明らかに, and it asked for an even more 詳細(に述べる)d 報告(する)/憶測. Again, the electrician 強いるd. More (警察などへの)密告,告訴(状) was sought about the duration of his visits, which he duly 供給するd.
You felt this 広範囲にわたる 支援する and 前へ/外へ was 怪しげな and 恐れるd the 保険会社 was trying to wriggle out of 会合 your (人命などを)奪う,主張する. Fed up with this game of cat and mouse, you 接触するd me.
I asked HomeServe to crank up its 成果/努力s to get your (人命などを)奪う,主張する sorted ― as it was more than three months since the 出来事/事件. HomeServe scurried into 活動/戦闘, even getting someone in (民事の)告訴s to spend the 週末 looking over your (人命などを)奪う,主張する.?
にもかかわらず these 希望に満ちた 調印するs, a few days later you received a disappointing call from a HomeServe スパイ/執行官 拒絶する/低下するing your (人命などを)奪う,主張する. The explanation given was your home had been wired incorrectly and you had not followed the (人命などを)奪う,主張するs 過程 適切に.
You 論争 these arguments, as your bungalow is only 25 years old and 井戸/弁護士席 持続するd, with no problems in the three years you’ve lived there ― and as it was an 緊急 状況/情勢, you made the (人命などを)奪う,主張する as soon as you were able.
However, later that same day, (機の)カム another call from someone higher up the organisation, 明言する/公表するing the 法案s would be met after all. It seems that the results of the (民事の)告訴s team’s 週末 endeavours had not 以前 filtered through to the 前線 line.
HomeServe now 受託するs you did your best during the (人命などを)奪う,主張するs 過程 and shouldn’t have had such a difficult experience. It has apologised to you 直接/まっすぐに.?
A 広報担当者 says: ‘On this occasion we did not get it 権利 and A.J.’s experience fell below the usual high 基準s our 顧客s 推定する/予想する and we work hard to 配達する. In this 事例/患者 there were some 複雑化s surrounding her electrics 政策, but in 取引,協定ing with the 問題/発行する, we made it more difficult for her to get a 決意/決議 than it should have been. We can understand how that would have felt 失望させるing for her and we’re really sorry.’
You have now received the 十分な £1,273.
I lost my £650 wedding (犯罪の)一味 but my 保険会社 will only 支払う/賃金 £351.75?
I was 荒廃させるd when my wedding (犯罪の)一味 slipped off my finger at Morrisons. I 接触するd the supermarket’s lost 所有物/資産/財産 分割, more in hope than 期待. Nothing was 設立する but at least the (犯罪の)一味 was insured with Ecclesiastical. It was valued at £650 on the 政策 but they will only 支払う/賃金 me £351.75, which 落ちるs a long way short. Can you 補助装置?
S.E., London.
Sally Hamilton replies: I’m sorry to hear about the loss of your (犯罪の)一味. My 未亡人d mother lost her 約束/交戦 (犯罪の)一味 in a 類似の fashion on a train ? and it never ended up at lost 所有物/資産/財産 either, I’m sad to 報告(する)/憶測. She had lost 負わせる and so slipped off her too わずかな/ほっそりした (犯罪の)一味 finger. She never saw the (犯罪の)一味 again and unfortunately it wasn’t insured. But like for you, the loss was upsetting more because of the sentimental value of the jewellery.
Ecclesiastical 招待するd you to choose a like for like 交替/補充 from its 任命するd jewellers. But you preferred not to go 負かす/撃墜する that 大勝する because the sentimental value meant it was something you could not 取って代わる. You explained that you rarely leave the house and have little chance, or 願望(する), to flash a diamond (犯罪の)一味 around.
You 受託するd that you would see at least £100 deducted from your (人命などを)奪う,主張する as that is the 超過 ? the 量 a policyholder must 与える/捧げる に向かって a (人命などを)奪う,主張する. The 保険会社 understood your 見地 and agreed a cash 解決/入植地 ? but only of £351.75. You were 自然に not pleased, so (機の)カム to me. I thought you were 権利 to complain.
I am pleased to say that Ecclesiastical 調査/捜査するd your (民事の)告訴 quickly, said it was sorry you had been 不満な with the service and said it should have 申し込む/申し出d different 解決/入植地 選択s to you sooner. It 受託するd your (人命などを)奪う,主張する for £550 cash ? 逮捕する of the £100 政策 超過. But in a 向こうずねing example of good 顧客 service, it went one step その上の and paid you an extra £100 for the inconvenience, so you are not out of pocket with your (人命などを)奪う,主張する.
