麻薬s danger in care homes

More than half of care homes for the 年輩の are failing to 治める or 扱う old people's 医薬適切に.

An 調査 into 乱用 of pensioners was told that only 45% of 居住の homes were 会合最小限基準s on 取引，協定ing with 患者s' 麻薬s.

The findings were 述べるd as a "重要な area of 関心" to the House of ありふれたs Health 委員会調査 into いわゆる "年上の乱用".

Twelve per cent of homes in England failed to 従う with 指導基準s, while a その上の 42% also fell short for more easily addressable faults such as insufficient training and 危険な貯蔵 of pills.

Only 1% excelled in 扱うing 医薬.

The 報告（する）／憶測 continued: "The 国家の service 枠組み for older people 特に identifies under 診断するs of 不景気 amongst older people as a serious 医薬問題／発行する. This is a （疑いを）晴らす原因（となる） of 苦しめる to older people."

Dame Deirdre Hine, of the （売買）手数料，委託（する）／委員会／権限 for Health 改良, told MPs there was 関心 over the 量 and combination of 麻薬s given to pensioners.

"患者s are given sedatives to 確実にする that they have a 静かな night and therefore the staff have a 静かな night.

"It's a 事柄 of 関心."

Calls for better training

She called for better training and 改善するd 監督 by 管理／経営 staff.

Dame Deirdre also criticised the 医療の profession for failing to 支払う／賃金 enough attention to the sophisticated nature of care for the 年輩の.

"I think the 複雑さ of care of the 年輩の has been under sold," she said.

特記する／引用するing 条件s such as dementia, she 追加するd: "It's 高度に sophisticated. I 'm sorry to say that the 医療の profession has given far too little attention to the sophistication and 複雑さ of this in the past."

Dame Deirdre also spoke of problems in the 国家の Health Service when 取引，協定ing with the 年輩の.

"Services for older people do not やむを得ず達成する the 優先s that they 要求する within the NHS."

She 強調する／ストレスd difficulties with staff levels and 欠如（する） of specialist care as some of the 与える／捧げるing factors.

Most 乱用 occurs in 患者s' homes

によれば the charity 活動／戦闘 on 年上の乱用, the 大多数 of 乱用 of older people occurs in someone's home (67%), with 21% happening in care homes. An 概算の 500,000 over-65s are 支配する to 乱用 at any one time.

The 委員会 heard today that there were no 確認するd data to support these 人物／姿／数字s.

Health 大臣 Stephen Ladyman said he believed the true 人物／姿／数字 was "重要な", but いっそう少なく than half-a-million as that finding was based on 12-year-old （警察などへの）密告，告訴（状）.

Dr Ladyman said that not all 率先s introduced to help 年輩の people have had the 願望（する）d 衝撃.

He said the 保護 of 攻撃を受けやすい Adults 名簿（に載せる）／表（にあげる）, which will 詳細（に述べる） people who have neglected 攻撃を受けやすい adults in their care, had 直面するd かなりの practical difficulties in the past.

But it was still 予定 to be in place by June this year, he 追加するd.
