Should your garden have lost its autumn mojo, brighten it up with chrysanthemums. Late 国境 varieties are in their prime now, so when other 工場／植物s are dead or dying, these are freshly in flower.

They'll last for weeks yet, and are excellent for cutting, too.

Don't 混乱させる these with large florists' varieties. Like those, they're colourful, gently aromatic and last for ages.?

But unlike flower shop chrysanths, these were developed as hardy, long-lived outdoor perennials.

Chrysanthemums are の中で the oldest known ornamentals. Prized by the 古代の Chinese and hybridised for millennia, they come in a 広大な 範囲 of varieties from 巨大（な） monster blooms to stunted little マリファナ 工場／植物s.?

国境 varieties are rugged, trouble-解放する／自由な perennials. They're lovely to grow with mixed 国境 工場／植物s, keeping your garden beautiful when c olour is becoming 不十分な.

展示 or florists' chrysanthemums are routinely disbudded to produce whopper 選び出す／独身 blooms. But garden varieties 交換（する） size for 量.?

Flowers are small to medium. But with （テニスなどの）シングルス, （テニスなどの）ダブルス, reflexes and pompons they come in 集まりs of 形態／調整s and colours.

VARIETIES FOR ALL?

The best varieties flower in generous numbers on extravagantly 支店d sprays.

The earliest varieties can flower as 早期に as August. The 最新の run 深い into November, いつかs even December.

As 削減（する） flowers, they last as long as shop-bought blooms. But unlike florists' varieties, they're shapely outdoor 工場／植物s, with pleasing foliage and flowers which are 持続する in all 天候s. Tall and medium varieties such as 選び出す／独身, pink C.?Clara Curtis grow to 75cm, with many-支店d sprays.

Others such as Ruby 塚 are shorter with わずかに inwardcurving petals. There are bronzes 含むing Starlet whose petals are spoon-形態／調整d and Mavis Smith with pink daisy flowers into November.

の中で the earliest, Clara Curtis carries plummy-pink, daisy-形態／調整d blooms in August. The 最新の I've grown was silverpink Emperor of 中国 which carried fresh December flowers.

You might find 工場／植物s in garden centres. But specialist nurseries carry a wider choice.

EASY CARE?

国境 chrysanthemums are as pretty outside as when arranged in a vase. They blend readily with Michaelmas daisies. They make lovely 単独の 工場／植物s, in コンテナs or the ground.

Any fertile 国／地域 will 控訴, 供給するd it's 井戸／弁護士席-drained and in sun. Tall and 中央の-高さ varieties will need support. Others develop stocky, self- supporting 塚s.

You can propagate new 工場／植物s from cuttings, 'slips' or by 分割. 分裂（する） clumps every third year, preferably from 中央の-March. By then, the spring shoots will be showing first baby leaves.

For 'slips', instead of splitting a clump, select and dig out strong, healthy shoots. Each slip should have leaves and a few roots.?

Re-工場／植物 them in groups of three or five, with 10cm between each, 45cm to 60cm apart.

In the first summer, each of the slips will grow, 支店 and 合併する to become a 選び出す／独身 clump.
