Health 公式文書,認めるs: 一打/打撃 symptoms - it 支払う/賃金s to be 警報

One Thursday morning in June 2008, mother-of-two Nikki (軍の)野営地,陣営, an 保険 company auditor, was feeling more 強調する/ストレスd than usual. ‘I had a big day ahead, with two 報告(する)/憶測s to 令状. I didn’t feel 権利 when I left the house with my husband Daniel, who drove me and the children. We dropped the kids off but it got worse; I felt hot, clammy and a bit nauseous. Daniel said my 肌 went grey, with a sheen from sweating.’ Ten minutes later, Nikki 低迷d in her seat. ‘Daniel saw that my 直面する had fallen on one 味方する, I couldn’t sit up and I couldn’t speak 適切に.’

Daniel called an 救急車 すぐに. The paramedics 嫌疑者,容疑者/疑うd a 小型の-一打/打撃 (transient ischaemic attack, or TIA) and took Nikki to the Good Hope Hospital in Sutton Coldfield. ‘I felt a bit better, but when I tried to talk I (機の)カム out with a 無作為の 始める,決める of words.’ A specialist from the new 激烈な/緊急の 一打/打撃 team recognised that her 乱すd speech 示すd more serious neurological problems and 査定する/(税金などを)課すd her to see if she could 利益 from thrombolytic (clot-破産した/(警察が)手入れするing) 麻薬s.?

Thrombolytic 麻薬s must be given within four and a half hours of the 一打/打撃, so Nikki was 急ぐd off for a CT brain ざっと目を通す. Says Dr Anthony Rudd, 顧問 内科医 in 一打/打撃 薬/医学 at St Thomas’s Hospital, London: ‘These 麻薬s are only suitable for 一打/打撃s 原因(となる)d by 血 clots forming in 血 大型船s rather than haemorrhaging in the brain. About 85 per cent of 一打/打撃s are 原因(となる)d by clots which stop 血 flowing to the brain, so brain 独房s die within three to four hours. If the clots are 解散させるd and the 血 flows again, there’s a good chance the 独房s will 回復する. The 影響s can be 劇の: I’ve seen 患者s who would さもなければ have died or been very 無能にするd walk out of hospital two days later.’ While 速度(を上げる) is of the essence, careful diagnosis is 決定的な because only 15 to 20 per cent of 一打/打撃 患者s will be suitable for thrombolysis.

Nikki 証明するd suitable and was given the clot-buster. ‘The 顧問 waited 20 seconds, then asked me to count to ten. Before the 麻薬 I’d managed two numbers; this time I counted straight to ten. It was as if my brain had been like a hosepipe with a kink in it, so the 訂正する messages couldn’t get through. Now it was unkinked and I could think again.’

Nikki left hospital five days later. Now 36, she is ‘perfectly able-団体/死体d, although I do get tired’. Her 一打/打撃 was probably 原因(となる)d by high 血 圧力, the biggest 危険 factor, 予定 to her 負わせる of 17 石/投石する, not helped by high 強調する/ストレス levels. She has ‘mended her eating habits, 削減(する) out salt and bad fats, and so far lost three 石/投石する’. She 演習s a lot, does yoga and, crucially, ‘I’ve realised I don’t have to be superwoman ? my two 優先s are that the mortgage is paid and I can enjoy my children. It doesn’t 事柄 if the house isn’t tidy.’

一打/打撃 is the biggest 殺し屋 after coronary heart 病気, and the 主要な 原因(となる) of 厳しい disability in the UK. Hospitals are 改善するing 接近 to 激烈な/緊急の 一打/打撃 teams, so that more people can 利益 from thrombolysis. Because the best results come when it’s given as soon as possible, it’s 決定的な we all remember the acronym FAST to help identify the symptoms of a 一打/打撃:

Facial 証拠不十分 Can the person smile? Has their mouth or 注目する,もくろむ drooped?

Arm 証拠不十分 Can they raise both 武器?

Speech problems Can they speak 明確に and understand what you say?

Time to call 999 if any of these symptoms 適用する.

一打/打撃 for 一打/打撃 Week, which encourages everyone across the UK to 列/漕ぐ/騒動 10km or more in 援助(する) of The 一打/打撃 協会, is taking place from 25-31 January 2010. You can 調印する up by visiting strokeforstroke.co.uk
