UK's 数字表示式の 未来 is 決定的な to small 会社/堅いs

?

An accessible UK-wide 数字表示式の 組織/基盤/下部構造 is 必須の if small 会社/堅いs are going to compete with their larger 競争相手s.

Simon Bulleyment

(1)偽造する/(2)徐々に進むing ahead: Simon Bulleyment says there has been a 抱擁する 転換 in 動きやすい and 柔軟な working over the last ten years

That was the 結論 of the 最新の 財政上の Mail Small 商売/仕事 パネル盤, a 年4回の event that brings together 主要な 商売/仕事 専門家s to discuss the 問題/発行するs 直面するing small and medium-sized 商売/仕事s in the 現在の 気候.

The パネル盤 was made up of Stephen Alambritis, 長,指導者 広報担当者 for the 連合 of Small 商売/仕事s; Robert Epstein, 長,率いる of small 商売/仕事 for Microsoft; Stephen Pegge, 長,率いる of communications for Lloyds TSB 商売/仕事; and Helen Loveless, 財政上の Mail's 企業 Editor. Simon Bulleyment, 長,指導者 (警察などへの)密告,告訴(状) officer at Haysmacintyre, a 会社/堅い of 借り切る/憲章d accountants in Holborn, central London, was a guest on the パネル盤.

The discussion followed the 出版(物) in June of the 政府's 数字表示式の Britain 報告(する)/憶測, which looked at how the move to 数字表示式の 科学(工学)技術 could revolutionise the competitiveness of the UK economy and 'change 劇的な the way we live our lives'.

The 報告(する)/憶測 含むd 誓約(する)s to 配達する broadband 速度(を上げる)s of at least two megabits per second (MBps) to every 世帯 in the UK. There was also 圧力 on 会社/堅いs to 投資する in new 科学(工学)技術 with 目的(とする) of 結局 申し込む/申し出ing broadband 速度(を上げる)s of 100 MBps, to 確実にする the UK can compete economically with other countries.

によれば the 政府 the 数字表示式の Britain 部門s account for nearly £1 in every £10 that the UK economy produces every year. Epstein said the need to build a 数字表示式の 組織/基盤/下部構造 that operated at high 速度(を上げる)s and was 利用できる to all 会社/堅いs could not be underestimated.

'As 科学(工学)技術 develops, growing numbers of 会社/堅いs will be looking to 可決する・採択する ビデオ 会議/協議会ing and teleconferencing, for example, so an efficiently working 組織/基盤/下部構造 must be there or 会社/堅いs, すなわち smaller 会社/堅いs, will 苦しむ.'

Bulleyment, whose 会社/堅い 雇うs 160 staff, says there has been a 抱擁する 転換 in 動きやすい and 柔軟な working over the last ten years, which underlies the need for a truly 数字表示式の 組織/基盤/下部構造.

He says: 'We 許す staff to work from home yet there is a wide variation in broadband 質 地理学的に, and not just in 田舎の areas.'

While welcoming the 報告(する)/憶測, Alambritis said it did not go far enough. 'Nearly two-thirds of our members want to see broadband 速度(を上げる)s of at least eight MBps - with half 説 that they rely on the internet for 50 per cent of their turnover this is not surprising.

By 2012 £1 out of every £5 could come from e-商業 which means it is 必須の the structure is in place to 援助(する) small 商売/仕事s.'

All members of the パネル盤 agreed that the 数字表示式の 革命 現在/一般に taking place 申し込む/申し出d 抱擁する 適切な時期s for 商売/仕事s, in particular for small 会社/堅いs to compete with their larger 競争相手s by using the different 科学(工学)技術s 効果的に.

But Pegge 警告するd that such 適切な時期s could also be 脅しs from competitors if 会社/堅いs did not 確実にする they were up to date with new 開発s.

He said: 'It is important that small 商売/仕事s keep up as things change 絶えず in the 数字表示式の world. However, it is also important not to forget the value of the 地元の market and the importance of good relations with 顧客s.'

A major 問題/発行する discussed by the パネル盤 was the growth of 'cloud 計算するing'. This is where 商売/仕事s 蓄える/店 all of their data, from company 記録,記録的な/記録するs to other 文書s online in a 安全な・保証する 外部の server or servers, いつかs known as a cloud of servers. This enables them to do away with 高くつく/犠牲の大きい and space-消費するing IT 金物類/武器類.

専門家s say that it can save small 会社/堅いs money and 許す them to grow faster, therefore competing with their larger 競争相手s. C urrent 見積(る)s are that just five per cent of small 会社/堅いs use cloud 計算するing.

Says Alambritis: 'Two-thirds of start-up 会社/堅いs operate from their home, so space is really an 問題/発行する, and this is one area cloud 計算するing could help.'

結論するing Pegge said it was 必須の that small and medium-sized 商売/仕事s did not underestimate the importance of 科学(工学)技術. 'Too many 商売/仕事s start up in the 伝統的な way, for example, by renting office space, but many should think about starting up electronically.

We would also advise those starting up to think beyond what you need today and encourage staff to make friends with 科学(工学)技術. The old 商売/仕事 world was very much a の近くにd shop but the new world is about 直面するing outwards rather than inwards.'

Microsoft's Epstein agrees. '会社/堅いs must 技術 up to take advantage of new 科学技術の 開発s. It is important to 最高潮の場面 just how big a 革命 this is, it will 運動 greater levels of 生産性 and change the way we work and live. This is big as the 産業の 革命 and 商売/仕事s must see it as an 適切な時期, not a 脅し.'
