Katie Clipston doesn't mess about when she says she's having a （疑いを）晴らす-out. Along with the usual bits and pieces of junk, she decided to sell her £1,000 ivory silk wedding dress, designed by French fashion house Farage just over a year ago, for £40 0.

'Selling my wedding dress was a difficult 決定／判定勝ち（する） because I was emotionally 大（公）使館員d to it,' says Katie. 'But in the end it was just sitting in a box in the wardrobe and the cash meant we could redecorate our bathroom.'

Katie, 32, and husband Paul, of Stanground, Peterborough, could give Del and Rodney from Only Fools And Horses a run for their money when it comes to selling.

Katie who runs a staff bank of nurses for her 地元の 会議, and Paul, 37, a salesman for a paper company, have made more than £1,000 already this year from online auction websites and car boot sales.

Katie and Paul sell only their own unwanted items - a 合法的 practice that has grown in 人気 during the credit crunch - in contrast to Del and Rodney, who bought goods in 本体，大部分／ばら積みの with the 単独の 意向 of selling them on and without telling the taxman.

Katie and Paul, who have two children, Millie, 3, and nine-month-old Charlie, got into selling unwanted goods because they needed to （疑いを）晴らす out their garage so they could 変える it into a bedroom.

Katie says: 'I suppose in the past we would have just given a lot of our unwanted 着せる／賦与するs and items like high 議長，司会を務めるs and stair gates to 地元の charity shops, but after recently 存在 on maternity leave and cash 存在 tighter we thought we should try to recoup some money.'

And Katie is not alone in catching the selling bug. Gill Klein, director of My Fayres, which organises the Brentside car boot sale at Kajima Community centre in Ealing, west London, says she has seen a 劇の 増加する in the number of 販売人s and 買い手s at sales since the start of the year. The Brentside 場所／位置 has 180 pitches and My Fayres 計画（する）s to start two more sales.

新規採用 顧問 Dee Quinton, 31, from St Albans, Hertfordshire, loves car boot sales and tries to 得る，とらえる a pitch at a couple of 地元の sales each month in an 試みる／企てる to make a bit of extra cash. Dee got 麻薬中毒の about 18 months ago after a holiday shopping splurge saw her arriving home with a pile of 着せる／賦与するs and shoes she quickly realised she didn't like. 'I did really 井戸／弁護士席 out of that first sale,' says Dee, who often takes her sister Christina, 29, along to sales. 'Once 買い手s arrive people will start rummaging around すぐに so you need to be 用意が出来ている,' she says. 'Don't forget to take plenty of change in your cash box and also 運送／保菌者 捕らえる、獲得するs.'

Klein at My Fayres car boot sales agrees and she 追加するs that 買い手s are advised not to price up goods in 前進する leaving 買い手s the 適切な時期 to 物々交換する and haggle.

She says: 'Don't be tempted to oversell or be pushy. Let 買い手s make the 決定／判定勝ち（する）. It isn't part of boot sale culture to be hassled or 急ぐd. Enjoy yourself and don't take the sale too 本気で. You will make money but it should also be a fun day out.'

If getting up 早期に for a car boot sale does not 控訴，上告 then you can sell just about anything on eBay. After 登録（する）ing, 販売人s must 支払う／賃金 to 名簿（に載せる）／表（にあげる） their item, which 含むs uploading a photo of the goods and a 簡潔な／要約する description on the website, although this usually costs いっそう少なく than 10p.

販売人s can also 始める，決める a reserve 最小限 sales price, although this costs more. 料金s 変化させる depending on the final sale value of your item, but you should typically 推定する／予想する to 支払う／賃金 about ten per cent in 告発（する），告訴（する）／料金s of the 量 you 達成する in the auction.

専門家s say の近くにing the auction between 6pm and 7pm at the 週末 tends to 生成する the best results as more 買い手s are likely to be online. There are other 選択s for 販売人s such as selling at a 直す／買収する，八百長をするd price and a 'buy it now' 選択, which enables 買い手s to 避ける bidding in an auction if they are keen to snap up your goods.

US-owned eBay, which 開始する，打ち上げるd in the UK ten years ago, is the largest and best recognised auction website, with more than 14 million 使用者s in the UK and more than 200 million 世界的な. But it is not without critics.

PayPal, the electronic 支払い（額） method owned by eBay, is also often criticised on online blogs and web 会議s. Some 使用者s （人命などを）奪う，主張する its 論争 決意／決議 service tends to favour 買い手s and so 販売人s often lose out. For example, a 買い手 can ask for a refund from PayPal because items they bought on eBay 恐らく did not fit the description, but then the 買い手 never returns the item and the 販売人 is out of pocket.

If you don' t have the time or inclination to sell your own goods on eBay there are companies who will do it for you, though they 告発（する），告訴（する）／料金. Website stuffusell.co.uk, for example, operates in London and the South-East and will collect items from your home, sell them on an auction website such as eBay, then send your goods to the 買い手 and 地位，任命する you a cheque for the sale.

It means forgoing some of your 利益（をあげる） in 告発（する），告訴（する）／料金s to the intermediary company, but Stuff U Sell （人命などを）奪う，主張するs it can 達成する higher prices than amateur 私的な 販売人s because it 研究s the market and has in-depth knowledge of the best ways to price items and how to 名簿（に載せる）／表（にあげる） them.

To give an example, Stuff U Sell sold an antique fireplace and mantelpiece for £336 on eBay and 告発（する），告訴（する）／料金d the 販売人 a 35 per cent （売買）手数料，委託（する）／委員会／権限.

After other 告発（する），告訴（する）／料金s 含むing home collection and the website 名簿（に載せる）／表（にあげる）ing 料金 the 販売人 received £194. But Stuff U Sell says the 普通の／平均（する） price paid on eBay for this type of item is £176 so it 達成するd a better sale value for the 販売人.

Swishing is a '犯罪-解放する／自由な shopping trip'

Swishing - swapping good 質 second-手渡す 着せる／賦与するs with others - is the buzz word in fashion and is 特に fitting for the 現在の 経済的な 気候 where 過度の spending seems wrong.

A glut of 'swishing' websites have 現れるd to 会合，会う 需要・要求する from fashion-hungry 消費者s who want to 'shop 中立の' --either through swapping or not spending more on new 着せる／賦与するs than they make 支援する by selling their old items, and do their bit to help the 環境 and 減ずる landfill.

Web and television presenter Emily Cowan, 29, from Manchester, has recently become a 抱擁する fan of swishing and 収容する／認めるs she is （麻薬）常用者d. 'I love fashion and 着せる／賦与するs but it is too expensive to keep buying new things all the time,' says Emily, a fashion design 卒業生（する）. 'By swapping I can get my fashion 直す／買収する，八百長をする without any feeling of 買い手 悔恨.'

Emily was introduced to bigwardrobe.com by a friend just two months ago but says she now looks at the 場所／位置 almost every day.

The website 作品 by enabling 使用者s to 登録（する） for 解放する／自由な and 始める，決める up a profile. 使用者s then photograph and 名簿（に載せる）／表（にあげる）, for 解放する／自由な, the items in their wardrobe that they want to 交換（する）.

登録（する）d shoppers can browse the items 利用できる by type, size and brand and then 使用者s can make 接触する with each other through the 場所／位置 by sending messages about what they would be 用意が出来ている to 交換（する） from their own online wardrobe. Cash 申し込む／申し出s and 部分的な／不平等な 交換（する）s can also be made.

Other swapping websites 含む posh-交換（する）s.com, whatsmineisyours.com and swishing.co.uk. At 現在の, most do not 告発（する），告訴（する）／料金 any 料金s to join or to make 交換（する）s while they try to build a database of 使用者s, but it is thought 貿易（する）ing 告発（する），告訴（する）／料金s could be introduced in 未来 with some companies.

Emily's best 交換（する）s have been a wool blazer for which she swapped a denim skirt. She has also done 部分的な／不平等な 交換（する）s in 最近の weeks to get a 黒人／ボイコット embellished maxi dress and a vintage felt hat (pictured, left).

'There is a 広大な／多数の／重要な community on the website,' she says. 'Swapping is done on 信用 but 使用者s can give feedback and build up 使用者 ratings which is helpful.'

Ceri Heathcote, who 始める，決める up the Posh 交換（する）s website in April and also organises 着せる／賦与するs-swapping parties, says the money-saving and eco-friendly 面s of swishing means it is 確かな to grow in 人気. 'Swishing is the new shopping as it is 犯罪-解放する／自由な,' she says. '消費者s who want more 維持できる and responsible fashion are definitely tuning in to swishing.'
