Desperate borrowers who are 軍隊d to turn to 'credit 修理' cards after 存在 拒絶するd by mainstream providers 危険 ending up in a worse 財政上の mess than before.

The cards 供給する small lines of credit, typically a few hundred 続けざまに猛撃するs but いつかs as little as £100.

They are 目的(とする)d at 消費者s who have impaired credit 記録,記録的な/記録するs either as a result of 行方不明の 負債 返済s on other 貸付金s, or because of more serious problems in the past such as 郡 法廷,裁判所 judgments or 破産.

More people are finding themselves in this credit 部類 as a result of the 後退,不況.

Providers say the cards give borrowers the chance to show they can manage credit sensibly. If they do, they are rewarded with lower 利益/興味 率s or a higher credit 限界.

But the providers, which 含む Barclaycard, 資本/首都 One, SAV Credit and Vanquis, have a 評判 for 極端に high 利益/興味 告発(する),告訴(する)/料金s, often between 35% and 40%. The typical 率 on a 基準 credit card is 16% and it is possible to get 6.8%.

It means that some borrowers who 蓄積する 負債 on their credit 修理 card - 限界s are usually £2,500 - may never be able to 支払う/賃金 it off.

Ricky Bruce of 独立した・無所属 財政上の data compiler Moneyfacts says the credit 修理 market is almost impossible to 監視する.

'Many providers don't 供給する us with 利益/興味 率s because they don't want the スポットライト thrown on them,' he says. 'It makes it impossible for 消費者s to 追跡(する) 負かす/撃墜する the best 取引,協定s.'

Beccy Boden Wilks at charity 国家の Debtline advises borrowers to consider other 選択s, such as taking out a basic bank account and asking for a small overdraft or a credit card linked to the account. 'Also, don't forget you can put a 公式文書,認める on your credit とじ込み/提出する to explain your circumst ances,' she says.

'It may be the 事例/患者 that you've had an excellent credit 記録,記録的な/記録する in the past, but 予定 to redundancy you've fallen into difficulties. As a result, the 貸す人 may look more favourably on any 使用/適用.'

Vanquis, part of doorstep 貸す人 Provident 財政上の, has been criticised by 消費者 groups for its high 率s. Although its typical 率 is 39.9%, some borrowers are 支払う/賃金ing 59.9%.

Spokeswoman Annette Stewart says: 'The 率 反映するs the fact that the card is 目的(とする)d at borrowers who have a bad credit 記録,記録的な/記録する or have no credit history so are difficult to 査定する/(税金などを)課す for 危険.'

Darren Thompson, 39, was 軍隊d into 破産 after a 離婚 in 1998. He was unable to get any form of credit for six years, and even after he was 発射する/解雇するd, Darren could not 得る any credit from mainstream providers at reasonable 率s. But two years ago, Darren received a letter from US-owned 資本/首都 One 促進するing its credit 修理 card.

Darren, who lives with partner Vicky in Nottingham and runs a きれいにする 商売/仕事, was 受託するd for the card. He was given a £200 限界 and an 利益/興味 率 of 17.9%. He has used the card 定期的に and is 希望に満ちた 資本/首都 One will 延長する his credit 限界. 'The card has been useful for 調書をとる/予約するing hotels, 支払う/賃金ing for holiday deposits and 支払う/賃金ing for goods online,' says Darren.

'I always 支払う/賃金 the balance off each month. Slowly, I'm hoping to 改善する my credit 率ing.'

When the crunch comes: 貸付金s at a price

? DOORSTEP LOANS are small, short-称する,呼ぶ/期間/用語 unsecured 貸付金s where 返済s are collected at home. The main player is Provident 財政上の, which is licensed and 規制するd by the Office of Fair 貿易(する)ing. T he cost of borrowing is high. For example, Provident 財政上の's website gives an example of 支払う/賃金ing 支援する £300 at £10.50 for 50 weeks - the 同等(の) to an 年次の 利益/興味 率 of 254.5%.

? MONEY SHOPS and payday 貸付金s 申し込む/申し出 short-称する,呼ぶ/期間/用語 貸付金s. Though 率s are high, these shops are licensed under the 消費者 Credit 行為/法令/行動する so they 申し込む/申し出 borrowers 合法的な 保護. Many also 申し込む/申し出 pawnbroking services.

? HIRE PURCHASE can be a good 予算ing 道具 if you need to buy something 明確な/細部 as it enables you to spread the cost over a 始める,決める 称する,呼ぶ/期間/用語. The 量 borrowed through 雇う 購入(する) 協定s 急に上がるd to £231m in March, up by 24% compared with a year ago. 利益/興味 率s are higher than 伝統的な personal 貸付金s.

? CREDIT UNIONS 許す members to borrow, but usually they have to save for a period first. Small 貸付金s can be taken out over different 条件, for example up to five years.
