'I paid £500 for bunk beds but they didn't arrive': How to shop 安全に online, as Aspace's 崩壊（する） leaves 顧客s out-of-pocket

消費者 専門家s are 警告 shoppers to be careful of how they 支払う／賃金 for goods after high street 失敗s left families waiting for months for orders and refunds.

顧客s at upmarket children’s bedroom retailer Aspace have been the 最新の to be disappointed after the company 中止するd to 貿易（する）.

The company, which went into liquidation in the last few days, stopped 貿易（する）ing at the end of February with more than 1,000 orders 優れた. Some orders ? for bunk beds and other furniture ? were for more than £500.

Although most 顧客s have now received ordered items or refunds, this is not always the 事例／患者. Once a company is in liquidation, it is up to the accountants who have been 任命するd to 勝利，勝つd it up to 確実にする any unfulfilled orders are 配達するd or refunds made.

Under English 法律, the liquidator must first 支払う／賃金 優先 creditors, who 含む those with 安全な・保証するd 負債s such as providers of 財政／金融, 同様に as any 優れた 従業員 負債s.

Only then are 量s 借りがあるing to 顧客s considered for 十分な or 部分的な／不平等な 支払い（額）.

Kate Hobson, 消費者 専門家 at 国民s Advice, says that the best way to 確実にする you are 保護するd in the event of company 失敗 is to 支払う／賃金 with a credit card.

She says: ‘If you buy an item that cost £100 or more and was bought on a credit card, you can make a Section 75 （人命などを）奪う，主張する to your credit card provider who will refund the 十分な 量.’

Section 75 is a 法律 dating from the 1970s and means your credit card provider is 共同で liable with the retailer for any goods you buy with the car d.

Cat Bailey is one of the many parents who did not receive her 配達／演説／出産 from Aspace, which pulled 負かす／撃墜する the shutters on its seven 支店s and online 蓄える／店 in February.

She paid more than £500 for a 始める，決める of grey bunk beds for son George’s new bedroom, attracted by the 20 per cent 割引 申し込む／申し出 on the furniture retailer’s website.

A week after s he placed the order, she realised the Aspace website had been taken 負かす／撃墜する and 接触するd the company.

Cat, 38, a company director from Hampshire, says: ‘I 接触するd 顧客 service and had an 自動車-reply email 説 it had 中止するd 貿易（する）ing. I tried to 取り消す the order and asked for a refund in 一致 with its 14-day refund 政策 but Aspace said it could not 過程 it.’

She could not buy a new bunk bed for four-year-old George until the refund turned up. She says: ‘We had 約束d him the beds as part of moving to our new home. I had bought two duvets and everything else was ready.’

Cat paid by debit card for the bunk beds, so she could not rely on Section 75 credit card 保護 to get the money 支援する. The company 結局 returned her money at the beginning of this month.

Along with many other 顧客s, she tried to engage with Aspace on the company’s Facebook page, which the company has now taken 負かす／撃墜する.

She says: ‘Even after the company had told us it couldn’t 過程 refunds and wouldn’t be 配達するing the goods it still had items for sale on its website. I feel it has 扱うd 事柄s 貧しく.’

For 顧客s who 支払う／賃金 for their items with a debit card, with cash or through PayPal, the 状況／情勢 is いっそう少なく （疑いを）晴らす 削減（する）.

Section 75 保護 does not 適用する to those who have paid through PayPal, as the credit card provider does not have a direct 関係 with the merchant.

In this 事例／患者, 顧客s will have to use PayPal’s own ‘買い手 protec tion’ 計画／陰謀, which does not give you 合法的な 保護. But PayPal 明言する／公表するs it will reimburse in 十分な if an 適格の item does not arrive.

Those who 支払う／賃金 with a debit card can 適用する for a refund through a 計画／陰謀 called ‘chargeback’ if goods do not arrive.

This does not give you 合法的な 保護 but 許すs 買い手s to 適用する to their debit card provider to have the 処理／取引 逆転するd within 120 days of 購入（する）. If the 過程 is not successful there is no 合法的な 頼みの綱. Hobson says: ‘It’s always 価値（がある） putting big 購入（する）s on a credit or debit card rather than 支払う／賃金ing for them in cash so you are not left out of pocket if a company does 倍の.’

Aspace shoppers were left with little （警察などへの）密告，告訴（状） and many waited months for refunds or 配達／演説／出産, even though the 会社／堅い had already taken money from their accounts.

Chairman of Aspace, Caspar Williams, told The Mail on Sunday that the company was ‘in the 過程 of 満足させるing most of the 優れた orders’ but said he could not 保証（人） all orders would be met. Aspace is one of several retailers to struggle in the 現在の difficult 経済的な 気候.

If the giftcard is 価値（がある） more than £100, and paid for with a credit card, Section 75 usually 適用するs (it is a grey area). If not, it is up to the company 行政官／管理者 to decide whether or not the cards will be 受託するd.
