SALLY SORTS IT: 負債 collectors are 追求するing me for £2,090 stolen by crook who 始める,決める up a Worldpay account in my company's 指名する
A 負債 機関 is chasing me for more than £2,000 after a fraudster used my company 指名する and 演説(する)/住所 to open an account with 支払い(額) service Worldpay.
Every time I 接触する Worldpay, it 約束s to を取り引きする the 事柄. But then, a few months later, I get another letter from the 負債 機関 需要・要求するing money.
I am at my wits' end worrying about my credit 率ing, (強制)執行官s coming to my home and my company 指名する 存在 used fraudulently.
J.R., London.
強調する/ストレス: A reader is?worrying about her credit 率ing, (強制)執行官s coming to her home and her company 指名する 存在 used fraudulently
Sally Hamilton replies: This whole sorry saga began when you received a Worldpay card 支払い(額) machine out of the blue at your 商売/仕事 演説(する)/住所.
You returned the 装置 as you do not use card machines for your pet 従犯者 商売/仕事. You sell your wares through an online marketplace, which 扱うs all the 支払い(額)s for you, or 直接/まっすぐに to shops, which are 法案d 年4回の and 支払う/賃金 you by bank 移転.
Some weeks after you returned the card machine, you started receiving letters from Worldpay about chargeback requests from the credit card companies of 顧客s who had seemingly been tricked into 支払う/賃金ing for goods they never received.
You 繰り返して called Worldpay, telling them they were barking up the wrong tree as the email, bank account and phone number used to create the account did not match yours, and it appeared the fraudster was male, while you are 女性(の).
結局, your 嘆願s were heard. Worldpay 保証するd you the 問題/発行する would be dealt with, and a 公式文書,認める was put on your とじ込み/提出する to 示す someone else had used your 商売/仕事 指名する.
You thought the 事柄 解決するd ― until Oriel, a 負債 collection 機関, (機の)カム after you for £2,613 in November last year. You pleaded with this 会社/堅い to 接触する Worldpay and hoped the nightmare was over, until yet another 需要・要求する landed on your doormat a few weeks ago ― this time for £2,090.
Oriel 辞退するd to engage with you this time because it said your email 演説(する)/住所 did not match the (fraudulent) one on their 記録,記録的な/記録するs.
You thought とじ込み/提出するing a police 報告(する)/憶測 might help, but 身元 窃盗 is not a 罪,犯罪, によれば 罪,犯罪 報告(する)/憶測ing 機関 活動/戦闘 詐欺.?
Bizarre as this seems, it says it becomes a recordable 罪,犯罪 only when a どろぼう uses the stolen (警察などへの)密告,告訴(状) to commit 詐欺 and make a 財政上の 伸び(る).
You also 恐れる your personal 財政/金融s and 職業 prospects could be 影響する/感情d by the misuse of your 身元. You have been 受託するd for a 職業 in the police 軍隊, 未解決の the usual credit checks. But you are worried this could scupper your chances.
To make 事柄s worse, you are 準備するing for major 外科. The last thing you need is 負債 collectors hounding you.
I was more than happy to 介入する and prodded Worldpay to put an end to your 悲惨.
Within a few days, the company 確認するd what you and I knew already: that the 感情を害する/違反するing account had been 始める,決める up using impersonation 詐欺.?
It also 確認するd that it had taken 活動/戦闘 to (疑いを)晴らす your credit 記録,記録的な/記録する and said you would not be troubled by 負債 collectors any longer.
A 広報担当者 for Worldpay says: 'The company was made aware of a (弁護士の)依頼人 that received collection notifications 関係のある to 身元 窃盗. Upon a 訂正する 身元 立証, we were able to work 直接/まっすぐに with the (弁護士の)依頼人 to 解決する the 問題/発行する. We 悔いる any inconvenience this may have 原因(となる)d.'
Anyone in your position should check their credit とじ込み/提出するs for 怪しげな activity, such as 使用/適用s for 貸付金s they didn't make. The three main 機関s you can use to do this are Equifax, Experian and TransUnion.
身元 窃盗 can be har d to 妨げる. Fraudsters often buy personal or 商売/仕事 (警察などへの)密告,告訴(状) that has been stolen in an online data 違反, or glean it in other ways, such as through social マスコミ or 'phishing'.?
This is where crooks send out dodgy emails or text messages that trick 受取人s into giving away personal (警察などへの)密告,告訴(状) or bank 詳細(に述べる)s. Do not click on 怪しげな messages and change your passwords 定期的に.
You did the 権利 thing by 報告(する)/憶測ing the 出来事/事件 to the police, as the (警察などへの)密告,告訴(状) could help them 追求する the crooks responsible.
Why is Virgin マスコミ still 法案ing me if I have cancelled my 契約??
I 接触するd Virgin マスコミ in March to 取り消す my phone and broadband 契約. In May, I realised I was still 存在 法案d. As a pensioner on a 直す/買収する,八百長をするd income, I am unable to 支える these 告発(する),告訴(する)/料金s. Please help.
C.C., Cleveland.
Sally Hamilton replies: On my request, Virgin マスコミ had a root around to see what had gone wrong and spoke to you 直接/まっすぐに to get the facts. It turns out you had asked to switch your landline to Sky in 早期に March but had done this by going to Sky 直接/まっすぐに.
You 知らせるd Virgin a few days later but Sky had already 接触するd Virgin about moving your service. This 原因(となる)d your Virgin account to be frozen, which it says meant it couldn't 行為/法令/行動する o n your 取り消し 指示/教授/教育. Virgin said it asked you to call 支援する once your Sky phone line was active. This you did on April 26.
Since it takes 30 days to disconnect a 顧客's service, the 過程 wasn't 完全にするd until nearly the end of May, which is why you received a 法案.
Virgin agreed to refund your final 法案 of £105 as a gesture of 好意/親善, along with £24 credit.
Even though Virgin followed 手続き in your 事例/患者, it has recently been fending off an 雪崩/(抗議などの)殺到 of (民事の)告訴s from 顧客s struggling to 取り消す their 契約s. This month, regulator Ofcom 発表するd an 調査 into the provider に引き続いて (民事の)告訴s about the 障壁s to cancelling 契約s.
In its defence, Virgin said the 率 of (民事の)告訴s from 顧客s wishing to end 契約s had halved in the past year and it 追加するd that it would be working with Ofcom throughout its 調査 and continue 改善するing its (民事の)告訴s 過程.
A way to 避ける this 肉親,親類d of hassle when cancelling a 契約 is to give your 会社/堅い 30 days' notice before switching.?
A Virgin マスコミ 広報担当者 says: 'We would advise any 顧客 who wants to move any service to another provider to let us know in 前進する so that we can take the necessary 活動/戦闘 and 避ける any unnecessary 延期するs.'
