Will my children 危険 相続物件 税金 if I give them a £10,000 lump sum to help cover their university costs?

I want to be able to help my children with living costs at university (my eldest is 予定 to start this year) as we think the 維持/整備 貸付金 won't cover everything.

I've been reading about 相続物件 税金 and am rather 混乱させるd. I've re-read the (警察などへの)密告,告訴(状) on the HMRC 場所/位置, and others, several times but it's still not (疑いを)晴らす.

My 計画(する) is to 増加する my mortgage to 解放(する) some cash to give a lump sum to each of my two children.

Gift: What the extra cash will probably be used for.

Gift: What the extra cash will probably be used for.

I understand that if my 広い地所 is 価値(がある) いっそう少なく than £325k then there would be no 税金 予定 (地雷 is 価値(がある) far いっそう少なく 加える I hope to live much longer than another seven years).

I then read that there is an 年次の 限界 of £3k on gifting cash. Does that mean if I want to give each child, say, £10k, there would be 税金 予定 even though my house is 価値(がある) 最大限 £250,000?

The other worry I have is whether giving them a lump sum would 影響する/感情 their 適格(性) for the student 維持/整備 貸付金? If it does, would it be better if I give them (from the remortgage) 正規の/正選手 月毎の sums? Although, would that count as an income? C.F., 経由で email.

Adam Uren, of This is Money, says: You're 権利 that if you gift money to 親族s then that will 落ちる out of your 広い地所 for 相続物件 税金 目的s if you are still alive seven years after the gift is made.

Where you seem to have got 混乱させるd is the £3,000 cash 限界 on gifting. What this means is that you can make gifts of up to £3,000 in each 税金 year and this money will be 即時に 免除された from 相続物件 税金, no 事柄 when you die.

?

As such you can give £10,000 to your sons and not be 攻撃する,衝突する with a 税金 告発(する),告訴(する)/料金, and 相続物件 税金 won't come into play at all 供給するd you're still living in seven years' time.

Your children also shouldn't 背負い込む any 税金 on the money either - HMRC does not count cash gifts as income.

The only way they may have to 支払う/賃金 税金 is if they save or 投資する the money and make 利益/興味 off it, which could bring them over the personal 税金 allowance, which as of April 6 will be £10,000, if they have a (very 井戸/弁護士席 支払う/賃金ing) part-time 職業.

This of course could be 避けるd 完全に if the money is put into an Isa - the 年次の 限界s on which will rise to £15,000 from July.

I have also checked with the Student 貸付金s Company and they say such a gift from parents will not 影響する/感情 their 使用/適用 for a 維持/整備 貸付金, 供給するd they 会合,会う the 適格(性) 基準 which can be 設立する here.
