M&S: Green and Rose 取調べ／厳しく尋問するd

RETAIL adversaries Stuart Rose and Philip Green both 直面するd 非常に長い grillings by the 財政上の Services 当局 yesterday, as the regulator 攻撃する，衝突する the ground running in the most high-profile 調査（する） in its history.

Green met the FSA at 4.15pm. He was asked for 詳細（に述べる）d （警察などへの）密告，告訴（状） about who knew about his 引き継ぎ／買収 提案 事前の to the formal 告示 on 27 May. He was questioned for an hour and a half.

Regulators also want to look into a punt on 示すs 株 by ICAP boss Michael Spencer, one day after he met Rose.

The FSA wants to know how news of Green's planned 企て，努力，提案 漏れるd into the market. The 株 ロケット／急騰するd more than 10% in the two hours before his formal 声明, with millions changing 手渡すs. During the previous two days, 取引，協定ing rooms buzzed with talk something was about to happen at M&S.

Green's 助言者s Goldman Sachs sent a '持つ／拘留するing letter' to Rose, who has （刑事）被告 the 投資 bank of trying to sully his 評判. Goldman did not 屈服する to Rose's 需要・要求する for a written retraction.

The 論争 centres on a conversation between Rose and Bradford & Bingley 財政／金融 director Rosemary Thorne in the presence of Goldman 銀行業者 Phil Raper, which led Goldman bosses to believe that Rose talked about Green's 企て，努力，提案 計画（する）s before they were 発表するd. Rose 否定するs discussing the 企て，努力，提案 with Thorne.

M&S chairman Paul Myners has 解任するd as '絶対の poppycock' the suggestion he may throw Rose to the wolves over his 株 取引，協定ing.

Myners 主張するd: 'I and the 残り／休憩（する） of the M&S board are unwavering in the support of Stuart.'

He said anyone spreading stories that 示すs might jettison Rose was '存在 mischievous and 潜在的に 有罪の of market 乱用'.

'We have taken no steps,' he said. 'It has never entered our minds.'
