Man in 黒人/ボイコット 速度(を上げる)s on to new 投機・賭けるs

REUBEN Singh's career can be 手段d ーに関して/ーの点でs of cars. At the age of 12 he dreamed of owning a Ferrari. At 18 he bought one, after getting his 指名する in the Guinness 調書をとる/予約する of 記録,記録的な/記録するs as Britain's youngest self-made millionaire.
Now, at 26 and with an 概算の £30m fortune, he has seven flashy モーターs in his garage. They 含む a Rolls-Royce and a Mercedes, but pride of place goes to a customised lemon-yellow Bentley.
'I had a materialistic 目的(とする) of getting into 商売/仕事,' he says. 'It was not because I had come up with an idea, my goal was to make money.'
Singh is a wonderful 宣伝 for modern Britain. The son of Indian 移民,移住(する)s, he started his own fashion 従犯者s 商売/仕事, 行方不明になる 態度, while still at school. He sold it in 1999 and has since diversified into 通貨 貿易(する)ing, 所有物/資産/財産, 投機・賭ける 資本/首都 and the Internet.
Most of his time these days is taken up with alldayPA, which 許すs small 商売/仕事s to give the impression they are bigger than they really are. Telephone 操作者s based in Manchester take calls on に代わって of the 会社/堅いs, making it look as if they have a 乗組員を乗せた office. 'You get a £25,000-a-year 長官 for 59p a call,' says Singh.
He knows all about making the most of 外見s. He 削減(する)s a striking 人物/姿/数字, 井戸/弁護士席-built, with a 黒人/ボイコット turban that 追加するs インチs to his 高さ, shiny 黒人/ボイコット 耐えるd and an all-黒人/ボイコット outfit.
'People talk about 人種差別主義 - it's your biggest 資産. It's that guy with the turban! In London, I hardly go out. I pull up in the car at a restaurant, they remember you! When people talk about 人種差別主義, how I'm not going to get a 職業, that's 完全にする and utter rubbish.'
As a Sikh, Singh prays in his office every morning before work. 'It's part of my daily life.' He does not drink, smoke or eat meat. 'I can stay out late and still get into the office 早期に.' He does not 削減(する) his hair. His 耐えるd, which he has had since he was 16, and his serious manner, 追加する to the impression that he is older.
It is little wonder that New 労働 has cosied up to him as an obvious 役割 model. He has worked on DTI quangos and 商売/仕事 率先s, and was 招待するd to become one of the country's 外交官/大使s for 企業 (along with the likes of Sir Alan Sugar and Sir Richard Branson).
会合 Tony Blair and the Queen in these circles gave him 'a big 急ぐ', he enthuses. His advice to the budding entrepreneur is simple: 'Never give up.' He does not support a particular 政党, but says: 'One thing I really liked about Blair's 労働 政府 was its family values.'
He idolises his parents, although his whole career has been about 証明するing he is not what he calls a daddy's boy. 'They are my biggest 影響(力). I wish I could have 1% of the energy and 商売/仕事 acumen of my mother, and the humility and 簡単 of my father.'
His parents were 豊富な by the time Singh got to grammar school. They moved to Manchester from Delhi in 1973 with only modest means and few 接触するs in the UK, but 速く built up their 輸入する 商売/仕事 to such a degree they were able to give Singh a £40,000 BMW for his 17th birthday.
As the 年上の son in such a 世帯 (he has one brother, Bobby), Singh learnt how to do 商売/仕事 一連の会議、交渉/完成する the dinner (米)棚上げする/(英)提議する. 'We knew about 利益(をあげる) and loss when we were kids,' he says. He 収容する/認めるs he had what he calls 'a silver 逮捕する' to get started, the good advice, the seed 資本/首都 of a few thousand 続けざまに猛撃するs, the 財政上の freedom to take 危険s.
But he is at 苦痛s to point out that he could have followed his father's wishes and entered the family 商売/仕事 and still have had the same sort of lifestyle he enjoys today.
Instead he 始める,決める up his first shop in Manchester's Arndale Centre, fitted it out, filled it, 指名するd it and did so 井戸/弁護士席 that he had opened another 行方不明になる 態度 shop after a month. 'It went from a 商売/仕事 with one person to 250 people in 12 months,' he says.
He says the shops' success was because everything was done in-house. 'It was the collectiveness. We had a shopfitting company, construction company, our own 輸入する 操作/手術, our own design.'
While 同時に reading 商売/仕事 熟考する/考慮するs at Manchester 主要都市の University, Singh built 行方不明になる 態度 into a chain of more than 100. The retailer was sold in 1999 to Klesch 資本/首都 and has since gone into liquidation. Singh 辞退するs to comment on the 推論する/理由s. It is a mystery how much he made from the sale, with 見積(る)s 範囲ing from £500,000 to £50m.
The last 利用できる accounts for 行方不明になる 態度, which date 支援する to 1998, show it making £310,000 利益(をあげる)s on £4m turnover. That 示唆するs a price running into modest 選び出す/独身 人物/姿/数字 millions.
After the sale, his next stop was the US, where he went to San Francisco and fell for the 誘惑する of e-商業. He sold his first online 商売/仕事, called 24hourbabyshop. com, as a 概念 before it was even 開始する,打ち上げるd. Since then he has created alldayPA, with a 的 to 達成する £50m annualised sales within 18 months. In September he bought GroupTrade, an online 供給者 of office furniture and 器具/備品 to small 商売/仕事s.
GroupTrade, which has just broken even によれば Singh, 目的(とする)s to use 集団の/共同の buying 力/強力にする to get cheap 取引,協定s direct from 製造業者s.
Singh says he 'wouldn't know' how much he is 価値(がある), although he has, in the past, (人命などを)奪う,主張するd that his Reuben Singh group of companies is 価値(がある) between £100m and £200m. 'What values do you put on the companies, the cars, the cash?'
He rants about the inaccuracy of newspaper rich 名簿(に載せる)/表(にあげる)s, where he 定期的に appears, although he is not above using them in his personal publicity 構成要素. Much of his time is spent on board 計画(する)s. He has homes in London, Cheshire, New York and Toronto.
He spends one day every week in north America, where the group has three offices, which explains his rather 半端物 中央の-大西洋 accent ぱらぱら雨d with an 時折の Mancunian twang.
He 明白に loves the US, and has considered moving there 永久的に. 'The problem with this country is jealousy over money - in the US they ask your advice and want to emulate your success.' He says he has no 願望(する) to run a 株式市場-引用するd company. 'I don't have the acumen,' he says. 'I don't have the knowledge to manage the 期待s of thousands and thousands of people.'
These days he (人命などを)奪う,主張するs his 動機づけ is 'helping other people to 達成する their goals', although he says he is not a chari ty, about to give his money away. 'I have a lot of dreams to 達成する outside 商売/仕事. I don't have a family yet.'
His 上級の staff are his family, he says. They いつかs spend more time with him than they do with their own husbands and wives. Every Friday, all 1,000 従業員s have their breakfast, lunch and dinner paid for by the 会社/堅い.
Singh has no new pet 事業/計画(する)s on the go at the moment, although he laughs at the suggestion he is bored. Away from work, his social circle is 変化させるd but tightly knit. One friend is a 64-year- old, another is a young man he grew up with who 作品 as a bus driver. 'I don't class my friends,' he says.
In one breath Singh 誇るs about his passion for cars and 着せる/賦与するs ('I spent £150,000 in a 週末 just shopping') but with the next, he 主張するs he has 達成するd his materialistic 目的(とする)s. 'I've realised six things money can't buy - happiness, 関係s, health, knowledge, class and style.
'Money is not the be all and end all of life. People will knock me 負かす/撃墜する and say you're 説 this because you've got it, but that's why I'm 説 it.'
