Railtrack tames '消費者 長，指導者'

RAILTRACK'S new 'public 利益／興味 director' foisted upon it by John Prescott will not be a 消費者 支持する／優勝者 and will not be publishing any 報告（する）／憶測s on rail 消費者 問題／発行するs to train 乗客s, the 副 総理大臣 or to 株主s, it has 現れるd.

Insiders at Railtrack, who do not 推定する／予想する the new 非，不，無-(n)役員／(a)執行力のある director to be 任命するd before July's 年次の 会合 of the company, say that when in place the director will not be making any 明確な／細部 声明s at either the 暫定的な or 予選 results or in the 年次の 報告（する）／憶測 and accounts.

Railtrack has also 強調する／ストレスd that the director will not be 'Prescott's nark' on the board either, 説 a board member has a 最初の／主要な 責任／義務 to the company's 株主s rather than 報告（する）／憶測ing to a 政府 which has no shareholding 利益／興味 in the company.

While the company is still struggling to find a new chairman in succession to Sir Philip Beck, Railtrack has also been 告発（する），告訴（する）／料金d with finding a new 非，不，無-(n)役員／(a)執行力のある who, in the words of Prescott, will be a 'public 利益／興味 director with a 明確な／細部 remit to 供給する a powerful public and 消費者 利益／興味 発言する／表明する' on the board.

Prescott 正当化するd the 決定／判定勝ち（する） by arguing Railtrack's 'special public 役割' and made the 任命 a 条件 of 手渡すing over £1.5bn in 加速するd 補助金s to Railtrack.

However, Railtrack insiders say it has no 意向 of 新採用するing a specialist 消費者 問題／発行するs 選挙運動者 and has instead 教えるd headhunters to find a 実業家 or woman whose experience has been in '顧客-直面するing' service 産業s, かもしれない in 小売ing.

One rail 産業 source commented: 'Railtrack won't put up with an Anne Robinson from 監視者-style person on the board. It all smacks of a bit of a Prescott gimmick which people can forget about after the 選挙. Even if the new public 利益／興味 director were to say something in the 報告（する）／憶測 and accounts that won't be until next year's, 14 months away.'

Railtrack will later this month 報告（する）／憶測 its 十分な-year results, an 推定する／予想するd £400m loss after £600m extra costs incurred after the Hatfield derailment last October.
