Sir Fred takes £3m from 抱擁する RBS 年金

?

Shamed former 王室の Bank of Scotland boss Sir Fred Goodwin has already been paid £3m in an 前進する on his 抱擁する 年金, it 現れるd today.

Sir Fred Goodwin

Pensioner: Sir Fred Goodwin

財務省 大臣 Lord Myners 明らかにする/漏らすd the ex-RBS 長,指導者 took out the lump sum in 2007. He has since agreed to return it on the basis , but will now take an even larger 年金.

The payout is 確かな to 刺激する その上の 論争 over the 銀行業者's staggering 賄賂 when he left RBS last autumn, having brought the high street 巨大(な) to its 膝s.

Lord Myners 明らかにする/漏らすd the 前進する during a 取調べ/厳しく尋問するing from the 財務省 Select 委員会, where he again 否定するd any 関与 in 交渉するing the 解決/入植地.

Later, the BBC 報告(する)/憶測d that Sir Fred's £2.7m 年金 前進する had 現実に been 価値(がある) £4.5m, because RBS had agreed to 支払う/賃金 his £1.8m 税金 義務/負債 on it. It was 示唆するd that Sir Fred has agreed to 支払う/賃金 支援する the money if he received a 保証(人) that the 税金 man would not chase him for the 義務/負債. Such an 保証/確信 has not been 来たるべき.

If he keeps the lump sum, it would 減ずる the 年次の payout from the total £16.9m マリファナ from £703,000 a year to £555,000.

'I did not 交渉する, settle or 認可する Sir Fred Goodwin's 出発 条件. All these 問題/発行するs were 扱うd by RBS,' he 主張するd.

The 大臣 was 警告するd in October that the payout would be 'enormous' but he never asked 正確に/まさに how much it was 価値(がある), he 認める today.

MPs (刑事)被告 him of either 'expensive 支援する-scratching' or failing in his 義務 to the taxpayer because he had not queried the 人物/姿/数字s. But the peer, who is a の近くに 同盟(する) of Gordon Brown, placed the 非難する squarely on the RBS board, which he (人命などを)奪う,主張するd had bent over backwards to help Sir Fred.

He told MPs he was not 知らせるd in October that the 不名誉d 銀行業者's 年金 was to be 二塁打d and only 設立する out four months later. RBS had created an '(a)手の込んだ/(v)詳述する ruse', pretending Sir Fred had asked to step 負かす/撃墜する rather than been 押し進めるd meaning he could walk off with a fortune, he said.

The bank's board had never told him the '十分な story' and had gone against his orders that 出発/死ing (n)役員/(a)執行力のあるs must not be rewarded for 失敗, the 委員会 was told.

RBS chairman Robert Scott had even 示唆するd they could 'spread out' the 公表,暴露 of the 十分な 取引,協定 over several years to 避ける public 批評. 'I think it is やめる outrageous that a man who led a bank into the largest banking 失敗 ever, a bank that depends on public support, should see a 出発/死ing (n)役員/(a)執行力のある 製図/抽選 a 週刊誌 年金 of £13,000. This is やめる 容認できない,' the peer said.

He 明らかにする/漏らすd that Sir Fred could have been 解任するd with no 支払う/賃金-off どれでも, other than a year's salary in 補償(金) as a result of taking RBS to the brink. The move - which would have saved the taxpayer millions - 'would have been a やめる straightforward and simple thing to have done,' he said.

Lord Myners 交渉するd 直接/まっすぐに with the banks on the 週末 RBS decided Sir Fred must go as the 財務省 大打撃を与えるd out a bailout for the 財政上の 部門.

He says he was told on the Saturday that it had already been decided Sir Fred should leave, and was then rung the next day and told of his 概算の 年金 payout.

労働 insiders later questioned why the 大臣 - a former 銀行業者 himself who made millions from banking 取引,協定s during his career - had failed to query the 人物/姿/数字s. They (人命などを)奪う,主張するd he had not done so because he comes from the same world, where such mega-取引,協定s are commonplace.

Today he was again (刑事)被告 of 認可するing the payout with a 'nod and a wink' or 存在 negligent in failing to check 正確に/まさに what had been agreed.

One MP said: 'Either you were party to a very expensive piece of 支援する-scratching and it was only later when the 総理大臣 設立する out about it that you pretended you had not 認可するd the 十分な 詳細(に述べる)s, or you 簡単に failed in your 義務 to 保護する the taxpayer and 許すd Sir Fred to walk away with a 年金 of £673,000-a-year for life. Which is it?'

'It's neith er,' the 大臣 replied. 'I made no 決定/判定勝ち(する), my 是認 was not sought, I was given no (警察などへの)密告,告訴(状), I sought no (警察などへの)密告,告訴(状). What I did do was to 始める,決める out very 明確に the 原則s. The 責任/義務 for fully 知らせるing me on these 事柄s lay with Sir Tom Killop and Mr (頭が)ひょいと動く Scott.'

He was 保証するd by RBS that Sir Fred was only 存在 paid what he was する権利を与えるd to under 契約, he said. Under the bank's 年金 計画/陰謀, a member retiring 早期に can still receive his 十分な 年金 - but only in 事例/患者s of voluntary redundancy. Because Sir Fred was 存在 ordered to step 負かす/撃墜する, he should not have qualified for the 十分な payout, Lord Myners said.

にもかかわらず this, his 年金 マリファナ was still 二塁打d on a discretionary basis - leaving him raking in £13,000-a-month for doing nothing.

The 重荷(を負わせる) of this 年金 is now 大部分は on the taxpayer, since the 明言する/公表する now owns 80% of RBS に引き続いて the 政府 bailout of high street banks.

Sir Fred was 非難するd for ruthlessly 拡大するing the 商売/仕事 関わりなく the 危険s. Last month, the overstretched bank 地位,任命するd a 記録,記録的な/記録する £24.1bn loss for 2008.

There was 普及した disgust at the 取引,協定 when it was 明らかにする/漏らすd earlier this year and Mr Brown has 教えるd lawyers to try to claw 支援する some of the cash. He and other 政府 大臣s have 繰り返して 否定するd knowing about the 賄賂 until it was 明らかにする/漏らすd last month.

'At no 行う/開催する/段階 事前の to February of this year was I or anyone else in the 政府, so far as I know, made aware that, in the 過程 of 取って代わるing Sir Fred Goodwin, RBS had 演習d the discretion which 許すd him to take his 十分な undiscounted 年金 from the age of 50 and その為に nearly 二塁打d the value of his 年金. やめる the contrary,' Lord Myners said today.

He 主張するd he told the banks during the crunch October 週末 that they must not reward 失敗 and 問題/発行するd 明確な/細部 指導基準s about how they should 扱う/治療する (n)役員/(a)執行力のあるs.

The two directors he discussed Sir Fred's 出発 with at the time, Sir Tom and Mr Scott, had '表明するd no 問題/発行するs', he said.

'It is beyond my comprehension that RBS could have then 演習d a discretion that very 大幅に 増加するd the cost of 基金ing Sir Fred Goodwin's 年金,' he said.

'Someone within RBS took the 決定/判定勝ち(する) to 扱う/治療する him more favourably than 要求するd. This 決定/判定勝ち(する) was 完全に at 半端物s with the 原則s the 政府 made (疑いを)晴らす to RBS and 推定する/予想するd them to follow.'

The RBS board had '終始一貫して misdirected themselves' in 説 the 年金 反映するd Sir Fred's contractual entitlements, he (人命などを)奪う,主張するd. It had wrongly categorised their 決定/判定勝ち(する) to get rid of the 銀行業者 as a request rather than a 必要物/必要条件 'in order that he could get a better 年金'.

RBS had 明確に decided on the 年金 without a '選び出す/独身 point of data' about the costs and had even given Sir Fred the choice of taking the 十分な 量 at the age of 50 or 60.

Lord Myners said Sir Fred's 年金, even before the 抱擁する 支払う/賃金-off, had been 'やめる 驚くべき/特命の/臨時の' in several ways. When he joined it at around 老年の 40, he was credited with 20 years of service even though he had only moved there in 1998.

Bizarrely, he was 許すd to choose his 年一回の 収入s for the previous 10年間. His 年金s 利益s were in 超過 of the cap 始める,決める by 議会 and so were 供給するd from a 基金d unregistered 利益 計画/陰謀.

身を引くing money from this was not 税金-解放する/自由な, unlike taking money from a 年金 基金, so the RBS board agreed in 2007 that they would cover the 税金 themselves. Sir Fred then took out £3m on this basis, with RBS covering the £1.2million 税金 法案.

And when he left, he gave up his 12-month 補償(金) 支払い(額), choosing instead to '加速する' taking up his 年金.

Lord Myners said: 'I think one has to admire in a 非,不,無-認可するing way the dexterity of Sir Fred Goodwin in 尊敬(する)・点 of his own 契約.'

委員会 chairman John McFall retorted: 'At the end of the day it is the taxpayer that is the 血まみれの 襲う,襲って強奪する here.'

影をつくる/尾行する (ドイツなどの)首相/(大学の)学長 George Osborne said: 'Gordon Brown 任命するd Lord Myners to look after the taxpayers' 利益/興味 and to keep an 注目する,もくろむ on the banks. He has 完全に failed to do that and it is the taxpayer who is 支払う/賃金ing the price. This tells you everything you need to know about 労働's 扱うing of the banking 危機.'

Sir Fred has so far 拒絶するd 嘆願s to return the money, (人命などを)奪う,主張するing 大臣s 認可するd it, and is rumoured to be considering leaving the country until the 熱狂的興奮状態 dies 負かす/撃墜する.

副 労働 leader Harriet Harman was ridiculed last month for 示唆するing a new 法律 could be 制定するd to get the money 支援する. But lawyers working for the 政府 are 調査/捜査するing to find any possible (法などの)抜け穴 in 事例/患者 the payout can be 減ずるd in some way.

The 総理大臣's 広報担当者 said today: 'The lawyers are continuing to 調査する this... the lawyers will look at whatever they need to look at.'

Lord Myners 追加するd: 'I still hope there is the 適切な時期 for Sir Fred to do the 権利 thing and return some of his 年金 or make a very, very 相当な and long-称する,呼ぶ/期間/用語 かかわり合い to charity.'
