Britain's first ever plastic banknotes are entering 循環/発行部数 in Scotland today to 祝う/追悼する the 125th 周年記念日 of the 前へ/外へ 橋(渡しをする).

The £5 公式文書,認めるs are more 持続する than paper 公式文書,認めるs and last an 概算の two-and-a-half times longer.

Clydesdale Bank is 問題/発行するing two million of the new 公式文書,認めるs, which are made 完全に of a form of plastic called polymer.

They will be introduced in Scotland ahead of England, where the Bank of England 計画(する)s to 問題/発行する them for the first time in 2016.

The 公式文書,認めるs feature an image of the 橋(渡しをする) and another of the Scottish engineer Sir William Arrol, whose company was 責任がある its construction.

They are わずかに smaller than the 存在するing paper 公式文書,認めるs, but the bank ? which is one of three in Scotland authorised to 問題/発行する bank 公式文書,認めるs ? says they will still fit in cash machines.

The 公式文書,認めるs feature several 安全 features to make them harder to (1)偽造する/(2)徐々に進む.

All have a transparent window, for example, that changes colour as the 公式文書,認める is moved and 攻撃するd that will make them harder to replicate.

Debbie Crosbie, 事実上の/代理 長,指導者 (n)役員/(a)執行力のある of Clydesdale Bank, said: 'We take our 責任/義務 as an issuer of banknotes 本気で and are 極端に proud to once again be 主要な the way in 革新.

'Our new polymer 公式文書,認めるs are more 持続する and 安全な・保証する, which will 配達する a 肯定的な 衝撃 for the public and 商売/仕事s. We have 達成するd that while also creating a striking and beautiful design which celebrates an iconic Scottish 目印.'

More than 20 countries have already 可決する・採択するd polymer banknotes, which can 生き残る a spin in a washing machine, but melt under extreme heat such as an アイロンをかける.

These 含む Mexico, Singapore, Canada and Australia, which introduced them in 1988.

In December, the Bank of England 発表するd that it 計画(する)s to 問題/発行する plastic banknotes for the first time from 2016, when a new £5 公式文書,認める featuring Sir Winston Churchill will appear.

A £10 公式文書,認める, also made from polymer rather than cotton paper and featuring Jane Austen, will follow around a year later.

The Bank said it took the call after 研究 showed the plastic 公式文書,認めるs show かなりの 利益s over paper 公式文書,認めるs; they are cleaner, more 安全な・保証する and more 持続する.

They are also more environmentally friendly and, because they last longer, over time they are cheaper than paper banknotes.

The polymer 公式文書,認めるs are made of a thin, 柔軟な plastic film that can easily be 倍のd. The bank said that the 公式文書,認めるs can feel slippery when new, but this tends to 拒絶する/低下する over time once the 公式文書,認めるs have been in 循環/発行部数.

Brand new 公式文書,認めるs can いつかs stick together, but the 影響 is also short-lived once in use.

At first just £5 and £10 公式文書,認めるs will be printed on plastic in England ? it has not yet been decided whether £20 a nd £50 公式文書,認めるs will be 同様に.?
