Calls for (ドイツなどの)首相/(大学の)学長 to help pensioners sold rotten 退職 取引,協定s as 恐れるs grow over スキャンダル that 'could be worse than PPI'

  • スキャンダル has left pensioners £8.5billion out of pocket, 報告(する)/憶測 示唆するs
  • Some 未亡人s have been left with nothing
  • 専門家s call for 活動/戦闘 on the mis-selling スキャンダル

The (ドイツなどの)首相/(大学の)学長 must 行為/法令/行動する now to help pensioners who have fallen 犠牲者 to a mis-selling スキャンダル, a 年金s 専門家 勧めるd today.?

The スキャンダル has left an 概算の 1.5million pensioners up to £8.5billion out of pocket and some 未亡人s penniless, 予定 to those retiring 存在 sold the wrong type of annuity when turning their 年金 マリファナ into income, a 報告(する)/憶測 示唆するs.

Speaking ahead of Wednesday's Autumn 声明, the 政府's older 労働者s' 支持する/優勝者 Dr Ros Altmann said the (ドイツなどの)首相/(大学の)学長 must '行為/法令/行動する now' to 確実にする that the mis-selling stops.

Worrying: The mis-selling スキャンダル has left pensioners up to £8.5billion out of pocket, 専門家s have 警告するd

'The FCA, which is under the 責任/義務 of the 財務省, has got to step in to 保護する people's 年金 貯金 and 課す a 義務 of care on those selling annuities,' she said.

Dr Altmann believes that millions of pensioners may be in line for 補償(金).

'It coul d be even worse than the 支払い(額) 保護 保険 スキャンダル, she said. 'This スキャンダル 影響する/感情s people's whole life 貯金.'?

Her 報告(する)/憶測 示唆するs 900,000 people should have got 高めるd annuities, 530,000 未亡人s and widowers 行方不明になるd out on proper 利益s for a spouse, and 90,000 savers with small 年金 マリファナs got wrong annuities.

The (ドイツなどの)首相/(大学の)学長 is 予定 to 輪郭(を描く) his 年金 freedom changes in Wednesday's Autumn 声明, which give savers more 柔軟性 to sidestep having to buy an annuity. But Dr Altmann argues he should also use the occasion to 配達する a better 取引,協定 to those already sold poor 退職 income 製品s.

The mis-selling 関心s annuities - 保険 製品s that retirees buy with their 年金 マリファナ that typically 保証(人) to 支払う/賃金 out a 直す/買収する,八百長をするd income for life.

In general those with health 条件s should be する権利を与えるd to a higher 年次の income from their annuity because they are not 推定する/予想するd to live as long.

But pensioners with health 条件s were not やむを得ず told they were する権利を与えるd to a better annuity ? and so could be 行方不明の out on hundreds of 続けざまに猛撃するs.?

Calling for action: Dr Ros Altmann?

Calling for 活動/戦闘: Dr Ros Altmann?

Retirees with poor health, on 医薬, or who smoke can receive 年金s which are up to 40 per cent higher if they 調印する up for a いわゆる 高めるd annuity.

Dr Altmann's 報告(する)/憶測 明らかにする/漏らすs around 900,000 people should probably have bought 高めるd annuities in the past 10年間. They may have lost £5.4billion.

She 追加するd: 'The truth is no one knows how much this has cost pensioners, because no one has been keeping 記録,記録的な/記録するs.'?

Since last year, 会社/堅いs have been supposed to 最高潮の場面 that people with these 条件s can get a better 取引,協定.

Before this, many 会社/堅いs did not even bother to ask. They would routinely 令状 to 顧客s 含むing a 一連の 引用するs for the income they could receive next year.

Often many did not even について言及する the 可能性 that a saver could get more money if they 苦しむd from one of these 条件s. This was 特に the 事例/患者 if the 保険 company didn't 申し込む/申し出 高めるd 取引,協定s ― as many didn't.

An FCA 報告(する)/憶測 設立する that, on 普通の/平均(する), savers with a £17,000 マリファナ were losing up to £175 a year in extra income because of this.

Around a 4半期/4分の1 of people who took out annuities last year bought 高めるd ones. But in 2003, it was just 2 per cent.

未亡人s left with nothing as partners took the wrong 年金?

The mis-selling is also thought to have 影響する/感情d up to 530,000 未亡人s, who have been left with nothing because their spouse did not realise their annuity would not 支払う/賃金 out to a partner.

Unlike final-salary 計画/陰謀s, annuities do not automatically 支払う/賃金 out a 年金 to your loved ones when you are gone.

Instead, you have to ask 特に for a 共同の life 年金 to do this ― and 支払う/賃金 extra for it. However, many savers do not realise this is the 事例/患者.

Heartbreakingly, this mistake is only discovered after they are dead and their spouse is left penniless when the 支払い(額)s stop.

Since last year, 会社/堅いs are supposed to ask whether you want your partner to be covered by the 年金. But again, they routinely use 複雑にするd jargon such as ‘選び出す/独身 life’ and ‘共同の life annuity’ along with ‘ten-year 保証(人)’.

Many 事例/患者s which are brought to the 財政上の Ombudsman by the 未亡人s of savers hinge on 混乱 around the words ‘ten-year 保証(人)’.

The 未亡人s are 毅然とした their loved one understood this meant the 年金 would continue for ten years after their deaths. But, tragically, the phrase means the 支払い(額)s are only 保証(人)d to continue for ten years after the annuity was taken out.

Ros Altmann believes 未亡人s in this 状況/情勢 may have 行方不明になるd out on £2.6billion.

She called on regulators to 軍隊 annuity providers to 確実にする 顧客s receive the 訂正する income and to explain their offerings in plain English.?

'At the moment, they don’t have a 義務 to 公表する/暴露する their 告発(する),告訴(する)/料金s 適切に or to 警告する 顧客s of the 危険s in plain English. All they do is send reams of paper work which people don’t understand,’ Dr Altmann 追加するd.

‘It’s not difficult to talk in plain English. But maybe if they did they wouldn’t be able to sell their 製品s.’?

A その上の 90,000 savers with small マリファナs who ended up in the wrong annuities may also have lost £450million, Altman's 報告(する)/憶測 示唆するs.

Tom McPhail, of 仲買人 Hargreaves Lansdown, which 供給するs annuity comparisons said that the 割合 of its 顧客s qualifying for an 高めるd annuity is now over 60 per cent. 一方/合間, 80 per cent of 顧客s selected some form of death 利益s (either a 共同の life annuity or a 保証(人)d period).

選挙運動者s argue that as such a level of 高めるd annuities and people choosing death 利益s fails to be 反映するd in the 全体にわたる annuity market, 示すs savers are not fully aware of their 選択s.

McPhail said: ‘The FCA is 調査/捜査するing the 退職 income market because 競争 has demonstrably failed many retirees. Annuity 仲買人s and 助言者s help 顧客s to find the best 条件 for their particular needs; the problem is that far too many people do not 利益 from a shopping around service.’

Last month, Britain's biggest 保険会社 became the first to 収容する/認める it had une arthed historical 問題/発行するs with the way some of its 顧客s were sold annuities.?

In a watershed 事例/患者 最高潮の場面d by This is Money's sister 出版(物) Money Mail, Aviva 認める that an 内部の review of the way it sold annuities had 暴露するd 250 事例/患者s where savers were not given the 権利 type.

The savers were never aware that they had been sold the wrong 年金. This raises the prospect that thousands of pensioners who took annuities with other 保険会社s ― who have not 行為/行うd 内部の reviews ― may also have lost out.

A 広報担当者 for Aviva said at the time: 'We identified, as part of our normal review of 顧客 政策s, an error in the sales 過程 for a small number of annuity 顧客s.

'As soon as we identified this we put 対策 in place to 演説(する)/住所 the 事柄.

'We are now in the 過程 of 接触するing around 250 顧客s who were 影響する/感情d to 確実にする they are put in the same 財政上の position as they should have been had the error not occurred.

'The 量s of 是正する are relati vely small, but we recognise that this is important to our 顧客s.'

The 協会 of British 保険会社s told The 表明する: 'The 産業's own code is very (疑いを)晴らす on the need to ask 顧客s whether they are married or partnered or have a 扶養家族 who might 生き延びる them, and lifestyle and 医療の 条件s that could mean they qualify for an 高めるd annuity.

'We have seen no 証拠 to support the (人命などを)奪う,主張するs 存在 made about 普及した problems.'
