Mother's joy after winning 24-year 戦う／戦い to get 隣人 to 削減（する） 50ft leylandii

When Christine Wright complained about her n eighbour's leylandii in 1984 she hoped the 論争 would be settled within weeks.

She never imagined it could take 24 years - almost ４半期/4分の1 of a century - before the neighbourhood 列／漕ぐ／騒動 would 結局 be 解決するd.

But yesterday the mother-of-one was celebrating after finally winning a 会議 order for the 50ft trees to be 削除するd in 高さ.

She told of the blight the 巨大（な） モミs, 愛称d the 天罰（を下す） of suburbia, have 原因（となる）d in her garden in the picturesque village of Frettenham, 近づく the Norfolk 幅の広いs.

"It will make an amazing difference, we will be able to sit in the garden in the evenings and have barbecues," she said.

"I am やめる a gardener and I used to grow vegetables but I had to stop and cover the whole garden with grass as nothing would grow."

Mrs Wright, a teacher, and her ex-husband moved to their house in 1981 because of its 見解（をとる）s over the Norfolk countryside.

But within three years their 隣人s 工場／植物d more than 100 leylandii trees along the 150ft 境界 between the two houses.

Mrs Wright watched in horror as the dense leylandii grew, 封鎖するing the sunlight to her once 繁栄するing garden, and her vegetable patch withered and died.

The 抱擁する モミ trees grow at a 率 of 3ft a year and can reach 高さs of up to 100ft, and they soon cast a 永久の 影をつくる／尾行する over the Wrights' garden.

Leylandii became such a problem that - に引き続いて a Mail （選挙などの）運動をする - new 法律制定 was introduced in 2003 that meant 会議s can 軍隊 householders to 削減（する） the high hedges, or 直面する a £1,000 罰金.

But the 法律s were not in place when the Wrights first complained to their 隣人s in 1984 - the year Torvill and Dean won gold at the Winter Olympics with their 業績／成果 of Ravel's Bolero and 禁止（する）d 援助（する） topped the charts with Do They Know It's Christmas.

Mrs Wright said their 隣人s 約束d to dig up the 巨大（な） hedge, but failed to do so and then ignored a 一連の letters about the leylandii.

The Wrights then turned to their 地元の 当局 but had to wait until this week for Broadland 地区 会議 to 支配する on the 事例／患者.

The 論争 has taken so long to settle that the 隣人s who 工場／植物d the trees moved out five years ago, before the 事柄 could be 解決するd.

Broadland 地区 会議 支配するd that the trees must be 削減（する） 支援する, first to 36ft tall by September and then to 30ft tall by September next year.

Mrs Wright, who lives with her daughter Bryony, 21, said: "I am 絶対 over the moon. We had a 祝賀 when we 設立する out and had some family 一連の会議、交渉／完成する."

Her 現在の 隣人s, pensioners David and Christine Pursey, said they would co-operate with the 会議 order.
