Toot toot! A train lover's dream comes true in his 前線 garden


Most model rail way 熱中している人s are content with 住宅 their 跡をつけるs in the spare room.

Not Eric Marshall, 68, from Bagby, 近づく Thirsk in North Yorkshire, who has transformed his 前線 garden into a miniature 鉄道.

Now he just has to get used to the hundreds of tourists flocking to his 前線 door to see his collection in 動議.

'I've always had an 利益/興味 in 鉄道s,' Mr Marshall said.

'I was born within 50 yards of the main London-North East 鉄道. As a kid I used to go trainspotting.'

にもかかわらず a childhood passion for trains, Mr Marshall did not 追求する it as a career - instead he worked in the printing 産業.

'A few years ago I went to a 鉄道 展示 and saw the model trains running around and I thought that would look nice in my garden,' he said.

'I started building the 鉄道 three years ago and I make everything myself. I started with one 跡をつける and now I have four.

'I make all the houses and 駅/配置するs from plywood and the tiles on the 最高の,を越す are made from cedar 支持を得ようと努めるd.

'All the tiles are stuck on 個々に, so everything is more or いっそう少なく 天候 proof.

'I use anything I can find around the house, like 床に打ち倒す tiles - I never throw anything away.'

Mr Marshall, who used to work in the printing 産業, 受託するs 寄付s from 訪問者s and has raised over £500 for Macmillan 癌 Support this year alone.

Mr Marshall's wife, ジーンズ, 65, was 最初 unimpressed.

'The wife liked the lawn and wasn't happy when I started digging it up but she's very happy with it now,' Mr Marshall said.

Mrs Marshall, a retired supermarket 労働者, said while she 行方不明になるd her lawn and flower beds, she enjoyed 会合 all the tourists.
