Keir Starmer 直面するd yet more questions over 'Beergate' last night after it 現れるd his own police 護衛s may have 証言，証人／目撃するd the 申し立てられた／疑わしい lockdown 違反.

When I joined the 労働 Party in 1987, I saw it as a 防御壁／支持者 for truth and decency. It was the 時代 of the 悪名高い Section 28, which banned the supposed '昇進／宣伝 of homosexuality' by 地元の 当局, a 保守的な 政策 that I regarded as bigoted and wrong.

I had my differences with 労働 over the years and 辞職するd my 会員の地位 in 2010. When the extreme Left-winger Jeremy Corbyn became leader five years later, I did everything in my 力／強力にする to 敗北・負かす the party. More recently, I have been relieved to see 労働 take steps to return to sanity under Keir Starmer.

And I have always assumed that as a former director of public 起訴s, Sir Keir would be upstanding and honest ? two 決定的な 質s for a leader ? and that 労働 would be the same under his leadership.

But my 約束 in his honesty has taken a 厳しい, かもしれない 致命的な, dent over his 拒絶 to be open and transparent about the meal he enjoyed with 同僚s in Durham last April.

I cannot reconcile what we know about the evening, and his 拒絶 to answer basic questions about that night, with his （人命などを）奪う，主張する that he has done nothing wrong.

Indeed, as I listened to him 存在 interviewed on yesterday's BBC 無線で通信する 4 Today programme, his 失敗 to 演説（する）／住所 the questions he was asked led to me to wonder if, as the former 長，指導者 検察官，検事, he had at the 支援する of his mind the police 警告を与える given to anyone who is 逮捕（する）d: 'You do not have to say anything. But it may 害（を与える） your defence if you do not について言及する when questioned something which you later rely on in 法廷，裁判所. Anything you do say may be given in 証拠.'

Interviewer Martha Kearney asked a basic question about what is now known as 'Beergate' ? the 論争 over the 主張 that he and his 副 leader, Angela Rayner, broke lockdown 支配するs at a （選挙などの）運動をする event in Durham last year.

'Has there been any 接触する with you or your office from Durham police, since 保守的な MPs called for 調査s to be 再開するd?' 行方不明になる Kearney 需要・要求するd. It was a simple question that could and should have been answered with a straight yes or no. But at no point has Sir Keir been open or transparent about what 現実に happened that night.

Yes, we know that. The point now is that new 証拠 has since been 明らかにするd by the Daily Mail. And the police have subsequently been asked to look again at whether there was indeed a 違反 of the 法律.

Yet Sir Keir is unwilling even to comment on whether the police have 接触するd him.

The natural reaction to his 拒絶 to give a straight answer is to 嫌疑者，容疑者／疑う he is hiding something. From the very start of this, Sir Keir and the 労働 Party have behaved as if they take everyone else for idiots, deliberately obfuscating over what 現実に happened, 辞退するing to answer direct questions or to give a 十分な account. Worse than that, they misled everybody about the presence of Mrs Rayner, 否定するing she was 現在の until they were caught out.

Sir Keir says it was a 'mistake' ? as if the presence of the party's 副 leader was something everyone there on the night 簡単に forgot about.

'I don't think anybody would 本気で say Keir Starmer's team would 嘘（をつく） to the マスコミ about this,' he 主張するs.

It is risible ? as if no one would dream that a 政治家，政治屋 and his staff would ever say something that wasn't true.

When 証拠 first 現れるd of the 負かす／撃墜するing Street parties, Boris Johnson made things infinitely worse for himself by appearing not to give the 十分な story straight away.

The drip-drip-drip of （警察などへの）密告，告訴（状） 許すd his enem ies to gun for him. Sir Keir's 返答 was to call his opposite number a liar and 需要・要求する his 辞職: 'I think the 総理大臣 broke the 法律, I think he then lied about what had happened.'

What's good for the goose is good for the gander. Sir Keir's 告訴，告発 of lying should be directed straight 支援する at him. So many questions are 存在 left deliberately unanswered that the only 合理的な／理性的な 返答 is that he and his team are trying to hide what happened.

Here is what we know for 確かな . In April 2021, the Tier 2 制限s in Durham 明言する／公表するd: 'You must not socialise indoors except with your 世帯 or support 泡.'

We know that Sir Keir and Mrs Rayner drank beer and ate a meal indoors with people not from their 各々の 世帯 or support 泡s. Sir Keir says that this was 罰金, because the 支配するs had an 控除 for 集会s 'reasonably necessary for the 目的s of （選挙などの）運動をするing in an 選挙'.

Keir says he went 支援する to work after the beer and his meal. Really?

He is 本気で telling us that everyone in the room had a takeaway and a drink late at night after a long day and then they all decided the best thing to do was start working again?

It's not only implausible ? there is not a shred of 証拠 to show any work was done after they had eaten. If it's true, why won't he tell us what work he did when he 再開するd work after the meal ? or when he finally left to go 支援する to his hotel? Was everyone else working when he started work again, or were they eating and drinking while he worked? Who else, 正確に／まさに, was there?

Instead of answers to these 決定的な questions, Sir Keir 申し込む／申し出s only silence.

But the 穴を開けるs in his story get bigger by the day. Sir Keir also says he had no choice but to eat with his 同僚s because he couldn't get a meal at the hotel he was staying in.

The Mail has shown this is nonsense ? the hotel made a point of 申し込む／申し出ing room service for 法律-がまんするing guests who were に引き続いて the 支配するs by eating alone in their room. Sir Keir could 除去する all 疑問 about the truth of his story if he gave a 十分な account of what happened 支援するd up by 証拠. In the absence of such 証拠, however, it looks to be no more and no いっそう少なく than a social meal and a drink with 同僚s after work ? and so not remotely 'necessary'. In other words, 違法な under the Tier 2 支配するs.

The （ドイツなどの）首相／（大学の）学長, Rishi Sunak, was 罰金d for turning up to a scheduled work 会合 in the 閣僚 room to find that a 集会 was taking place, and not walking out. For that, 労働 需要・要求するd his 辞職. The hypocrisy is breathtaking.

Sir Keir plainly thinks he can keep 説 no thing and the fuss will die 負かす／撃墜する. But the one thing 投票者s cannot stomach is a 政治家，政治屋 who lies ? so Sir Keir needs to come clean. It is difficult to imagine why he would let this story fester if he really has done nothing wrong and can 証明する it by answering questions, so it may 井戸／弁護士席 be he is covering up his own lawbreaking.

If that is the 事例／患者 then ? on his own merciless 基準s ? surely he must 辞職する.

Or does he believe that the 支配するs don't 適用する to him?
