A 72-year-old woman was left lying in a 冷淡な street for nine hours after breaking her hip because no 救急車s were 利用できる to take her to hospital.

Mary Kinsella fell in Helston, Cornwall, at around 1.30pm on Tuesday afternoon and had to wait until 10.30pm before an 救急車 finally arrived.?

The grandmother, who was told she needed a hip 交替／補充, then waited in the 救急車 for 13 hours outside the 王室の Cornwall Hospital as all the beds were 占領するd.

Mary's granddaughter Bethany said: 'Nan fell whilst walking the dog - our dog saw a cat and ran and took nan with her.

'We were 定期的に (hourly) calling 999 and the handlers just kept 繰り返し言うing that there was nothing they could do and that they were 極端に busy.?

'The paramedics themselves called us from the 救急車 列 at Treliske to keep us 知らせるd but the only update was that nan was 最高の，を越す 優先 but they couldn't 予報する the wait time.'

Beth said her family have been left ガス／煙ing at the 状況／情勢 but was eager to 賞賛する all of those who stopped to help Mary.

She 追加するd: 'Our family are very shocked and appalled at the 状況／情勢. It's upsetting to see anyone you love in 苦痛 and 負傷させるd, never mind your 72-year-old grandparent laying in the 氷点の 冷淡な for nine hours without any 援助 at all.

'We couldn't move her because she was in 完全にする agony. She has an underlying heart 条件 which we kept 繰り返し言うing to the 緊急 services as she was getting chest 苦痛s throughout.

'My mum and my brother had been there since they got the call to say it had happened. I turned up at 6pm when I finished work and she was still shaking from shock and 苦痛.

'You hear stories about this stuff but you just don't believe it. I think more people need to know about this because something needs to be done. I 絶対 dread to think about what's been going on to other 貧しく and 負傷させるd people over Cornwall that we don't hear about.

'The paramedics were just amazing, they were so apologetic and of course, this is 非，不，無 of their fault at all.?

'They are mentally, emotionally, and 肉体的に drained working in such tireless 条件s.?

'The main 推論する／理由 I am doing this and wanting to put the story out there is because the paramedics pleaded with us to do so, they want more people to make a stand and be made aware so that we can all speak up and hopefully a change is made.'

A spokesperson for South Western 救急車 Service NHS 信用 read: 'We are sorry that we were unable to 供給する a timely 返答 to Ms Kinsella.

'Our 救急車 clinicians 努力する／競う every day to give their best to 患者s, but our 業績／成果 has not returned to pre-pandemic levels, partly 予定 to handover 延期するs at 緊急 departments.

'Health and social care services are under enormous 圧力. We are working with our partners to 確実にする our 救急車 clinicians can get 支援する out on the road as quickly as possible, to 答える／応じる to other 999 calls within the community.'
