Street litter on the rise with cigarette butts and 急速な/放蕩な food and コンテナs to 非難する for problem

Almost a fifth of England's streets are in a poor 明言する/公表する because of rubbish, with 急速な/放蕩な food 一括ing and drinks コンテナs の中で the litter on the rise, a 調査する shows today.

政府 大臣 Lord 追跡(する) 勧めるd the public and 地元の 当局 to do more to 取り組む the problem of litter, which costs around £550 million a year for 会議s to (疑いを)晴らす up.

The 地元の 環境 質 調査する of 19,000 場所/位置s, (売買)手数料,委託(する)/委員会/権限d by the 環境 Department (Defra), showed that cigarette butts and other smoking rubbish was still the most 広範囲にわたって-設立する litter, spotted at 78 per cent of 場所/位置s.

Cigarette butts

Cigarette butts were the most 広範囲にわたって 設立する litter, 現在の at 78 per cent of the 場所/位置s analysed for the 調査する (売買)手数料,委託(する)/委員会/権限d by Defra

Confectionery 一括ing was 設立する at almost two-thirds of 場所/位置s (64 per cent) 検査/視察するd between April 2007 and March 2008, although levels had fallen わずかに on the previous year's 67 per cent 人物/姿/数字.

But 急速な/放蕩な food litter, which has risen almost every year since the 調査する began seven years ago, rose again by 1per cent and was 設立する at a 4半期/4分の1 of 場所/位置s.

アル中患者 drinks litter was 設立する at more than a fifth of 場所/位置s (22 per cent), a rise of 1 per cent on last year, while soft drinks rubbish was 設立する at 57 per cent of the 調査するd 場所/位置s, an 増加する of 5 per cent.

But Lord 追跡(する) will tell the Keep Britain Tidy 会議/協議会 in Brighton today that the 改良 is 'nothing to shout about'.

"The good news is that the 明言する/公表する of our streets is not getting any worse, but the small 3 per cent 改良 is nothing to shout about.

'For most people dropping litter on the street is 考えられない. It is the 少数,小数派 who are letting us 負かす/撃墜する.

'Litter is everyone's 責任/義務 and we all need to work together, both 地元の and central 政府 and the public, to help 改善する the look of our communities and put a stop to this unsightly problem.'
