ABC health guru Norman Swan will receive one of Australia's highest honours for his commentary on the coronavirus pandemic.

Dr Swan will be made a member of the Order of Australia as part of the Australia Day honours 名簿（に載せる）／表（にあげる） on Thursday, along with 735 others 含むing actor David Wenham.

The Scottish-born doctor will receive the high honour 'for 重要な service to the broadcast マスコミ as a science and health commentator'.

Joining the order will 許す him to use the suffix 'AM' after his 指名する. It is the second tier of the Order of Australia after the OAM.

He will also appear on a newly created Covid-19 Honour Roll that 含むs 77 Australians recognised for their 出資／貢献 in support of Australia's 返答 to the pandemic.

What is the Order of Australia?

About 16,000 Australians have been inducted into the Order, and another 29,000 given a メダル, since it was 設立するd in 1975.
