Steve Ellis, who lives in nearby Church Green, said: 'The 橋(渡しをする) is a nightmare. When the motorway has a problem, everyone tries to 削減(する) through.

'They don't upkeep it. If you 運動 over the 橋(渡しをする) there's that many potholes you wouldn't believe it.'

The 橋(渡しをする) was first built in 1863 by The Manchester Ship Canal Company (MSCC), and it only cost one person?on horseback or in a cart 1p - about 18p in today's money - to cross.

Some time later however, the (死傷者)数 was upped to 12p.

And since then, the sum has remained in place and can only be paid by cash and by 手渡す.

But this could all now change after?議論の的になる 計画(する)s to 増加する the (死傷者)数.

It is the first time in more than a century that a 計画(する) like this has been put 今後.

Now, it has been 明らかにする/漏らすd that the 提案するd price of £1 is part of a?£6.5 million 計画(する) to 昇格 approach roads, footpaths and the (死傷者)数ing system by Peel Ports, which owns and operates the 橋(渡しをする).

If 認可するd, the new (死傷者)数 will 含む 50 per cent 割引s for nearby 居住(者)s.

Mr Ellis said: 'I 運動 over the 橋(渡しをする) at least once a day. If they put it up to a quid, it's going to cost me £4 or £5 a day. It all 開始するs up.

'They say they can't afford to upkeep it but the turnover of that 橋(渡しをする) must be in the millions.'

People living in the village say they 定期的に get caught up in 抱擁する tailbacks and 列s as 運転者s wait to を引き渡す their pennies.

At 急ぐ hour, 列s on Warburton 橋(渡しをする) Road and surrounding roads stretch 支援する for several hundred yards as hundreds of drivers を待つ their turn to 支払う/賃金.

The 状況/情勢 is often made worse when there are 出来事/事件s on the motorways - the M6 and M60 - as drivers 試みる/企てる to use the 橋(渡しをする) as a 削減(する) through, 地元のs say.???

によれば Syd Rasheed, the number of cars passing through Warburton has 'trebled' in the 26 years he has lived there. He said: 'The 橋(渡しをする) 原因(となる)s all sorts of traffic problems. At 急ぐ hour, it 支援するs up 権利 the way に向かって Lymm.

'I can 運動 from Manchester to the 辛勝する/優位 of the village for 20 minutes then it takes another 20 minutes to get home because of all the traffic.

'The 空気/公表する 汚染 from the standing traffic is an 問題/発行する too. The village itself is lovely and it's a nice l ittle community. We are やめる tucked away here, it's just the (死傷者)数 橋(渡しをする) and the traffic.'

He has also 述べるd the 提案するd 733%??price 引き上げ(る) as '不公平な', 追加するing he's supporting a (選挙などの)運動をする by the Warburton (死傷者)数 橋(渡しをする) 活動/戦闘 Group to get rid of the 告発(する),告訴(する)/料金s altogether.

Mr Rasheed said: 'We put up with all the inconvenience of the traffic and now we are going to be slapped with higher 率s.

'It's £40 a month for people that are working. It's not affordable and it's coming at a time when people are struggling. This is not a 豊富な village.'

At one 行う/開催する/段階, 地元のs became so fed up with the traffic 大混乱 that they began 支払う/賃金ing the 料金 themselves - all in one go.

Each week, they would を引き渡す £120 to 速度(を上げる) up crossings over the 個人として-owned 橋(渡しをする), which they say left them '囚人s in their own homes'.?

'We を待つ the 決定/判定勝ち(する) upon the TWAO (輸送(する) and 作品 行為/法令/行動する Order) by the 国務長官 for 輸送(する) ーに関して/ーの点でs of next steps.

'The feedback we have received に引き続いて our 非,不,無-statutory consulta tion shows that 昇格s to modernise the 施設s, 持続する the 橋(渡しをする) and 減ずる travel times are needed and very much welcomed.'

The spokesperson 追加するd: 'The (死傷者)数 is the best way to 基金 these much-needed 改良s and the 現在の 12p 料金 has not changed since 1863, and which had to 会社にする/組み込む the introduction of a 付加価値税 義務/負債. 使用者s of the 橋(渡しをする) deserve 施設s fit for the 21st Century which will 最終的に 緩和する congestion, 減ずる tailbacks and 改善する the general flow of traffic in the area.

'The 現在の (死傷者)数 is one of the lowest in England and will not 基金 the 資本/首都 投資 needed to support the 維持/整備 and modernising of the 施設s 運転者s are in favour of.'
