Shoppers 直面する a New Year sales nightmare as retailers

The 物品税 was 削除するd to 15 per cent a year ago to 上げる 消費者 spending, but will return to 17.5 per cent on New Year’s Day.

Some 蓄える／店 chains will operate a two-tier pricing system, with selected goods kept at the 現在の price while others 耐える the 十分な 負わせる of the rise.?

The number of shoppers out on Sunday was up nearly 18 per cent on last year, and the British 小売 国際借款団／連合 said it had seen the strongest start to the 地位，任命する-Christmas sales in years, ‘if not ever’.

With 付加価値税 returning to 17.5 per cent, the 人物／姿／数字 that flashes up on the till will now match the 量 on the price tag.

Tesco said it would 凍結する 付加価値税 at 15 per cent on ‘thousands of 製品s’ to 配達する £12million of 貯金. But prices will rise for many other 製品s.
Richard Brasher of Tesco said: ‘The 付加価値税 削減 was a welcome 救済 for millions of shoppers and helped many continue to 扱う／治療する themselves over Christmas. We want to 延長する this help into the New Year and hope 消費者s will feel able to 捕らえる、獲得する a 取引 and get 2010 off to a 広大な／多数の／重要な start.’
Sainsbury’s said there would be no price 増加する on selected goods - 含むing DVDs, homeware and its own brand 着せる／賦与するing 範囲 - but rises would be 課すd on other goods.
DSG International, which owns PC World and Currys, 辞退するd to be drawn on its 計画（する）s. Asda, however, will reprice its goods straight away.

The New Year rise could be a taste of things to come. Both 労働 and the Tories are known to have considered raising 付加価値税, かもしれない to 20 per cent, in an 成果／努力 to 減ずる the £180billion 黒人／ボイコット 穴を開ける in 政府 coffers.
