A 閣僚 大臣 has 配達するd a 信頼できる defence of a woman's 権利 to wear a burka.
As 審議 強めるd across Europe on banni ng the 議論の的になる イスラム教徒 衣料品 from public places, 環境 長官 Caroline Spelman said women were '権力を与えるd' by the freedom to wear the 直面する coverings.
Her comments （機の）カム after her 同僚, 移民／移住 大臣 Damian Green, resisted 需要・要求するs from within the Tory party to 禁止（する） the burka, which critics （人命などを）奪う，主張する is a symbol of the 圧迫 of women.

Mr Green said a 禁止（する） would be 'rather un-British' and run contrary to the 条約s of a 'tolerant and 相互に respectful society'.

Tory MPs who 支援する a 禁止（する） 含む Philip Hollobone, who has （米）棚上げする／（英）提議するd a 私的な member's 法案 that would make it 違法な for anyone to cover his or her 直面する in public.
Mr Hollobone, the MP for Kettering, said that he would 辞退する to 持つ／拘留する any 選挙区／有権者 会合s with women wearing burkas.
He said: 'This is Britain. We are not a イスラム教徒 country. Covering your 直面する in public is strange, and to many people both 脅迫してさせるing and 不快な／攻撃.'
But Mrs Spelman yesterday made the 反対する-argument that wearing a burka is important for women's 権利s. 普通は, the burka is defended on the grounds of 宗教的な freedom, but the 大臣 made what appeared to be a feminist argument for the 直面する-covering.
She said: 'I don't, living in this country as a woman, want to be told what I can and can't wear. I've been out to Afghanistan and I think I understand much better as a result of 現実に visiting why a lot of イスラム教徒 women want to wear the burka.
'It is part of their culture, it is part of understanding that they choose to go out in the burka and I think those that live in this country, if they choose to wear a burka, should be 解放する／自由な to do so.
'We are a 解放する／自由な country, we attach importance to people 存在 解放する／自由な and for a woman it is 権力を与えるing to be able to choose each morning when you wake up what you wear.'
OPPOSITION GROWS IN EUROPE
Spain is to 審議 banning the burka this week. The 判決，裁定 社会主義者 party has 示すd it will support the the 対立 popular party, which says the 衣料品s are degrading to women.
The lower houses of 議会 in フラン and Belgium have 認可するd a 禁止（する） on 直面する-covering 隠すs, but their upper 議会s have to 批准する the 法律.
The Netherlands may yet decide on a 禁止（する）, while Switzerland has 無法者d minarets, from where イスラム教徒 are called to 祈り.
French 議会人s 投票（する）d last week to 無法者 十分な-直面する 隠すs, 含むing burkas, in public.
Mr Green said he did not think that the French 投票（する） for a 禁止（する） would have an 衝撃 on 移民／移住 into Britain, as イスラム教徒 women move here instead.
He said: 'I stand 本人自身で on the feeling that telling people what they can and can't wear, if they're just walking 負かす／撃墜する the street, is a rather un-British thing to do. We're a tolerant and 相互に respectful society.
'There are times, 明確に, when you've got to be able to identify yourself, and people have got to be able to see your 直面する, but I think it's very ありそうもない and it would be 望ましくない for the British 議会 to try and pass a 法律 dictating what people wore.
'I think very few women in フラン 現実に wear the burka. They [the French 議会] are doing it for demonstration 影響s.
'The French political culture is very different. They are an 積極性 世俗的な 明言する／公表する. They can 禁止（する） the burka, they 禁止（する） crucifixes in schools and things like that.
'We have schools run explicitly by 宗教s. I think there's 絶対 no read-across to 移民／移住 政策-from what the French are doing about the burka.'
The new 長，率いる of the イスラム教徒 会議 of Britain, Farooq Murad, said that Britain was the most welcoming country in Europe for イスラム教徒s.
He pointed to the spread of イスラム教寺院s and sharia, or Islamic 法律, as 肯定的な 調印するs of the greater freedom イスラム教徒s are given in this country.
Catherine Heseltine from the イスラム教徒 Public 事件／事情／状勢s 委員会 said MPs should not waste their time discussing a 禁止（する）.
She said: 'Britain is a 解放する／自由な country. We value our freedoms and we don't want MPs or the 政府 telling British 国民s what they can or can't wear.
'How does it 傷つける anybody else if a woman chooses to wear a small piece of cloth across her 直面する?
'やめる 率直に, MPs, there's a £160billion 負債; shouldn't they be busier worrying about what they're going to do about that, than a small piece of cloth that a few women choose to wear?'
Under the French 禁止（する）, which is 推定する／予想するd to be 認可するd by the country's 上院 in September, a woman wearing the burka can be stopped on the street by police and ordered to a police 駅／配置する, where she will be compelled to 除去する the 隠す. 大統領 Nicolas Sarkozy has said that the burka 'is not welcome' in his country. He （人命などを）奪う，主張するs that it is 'oppressive' to women and 減ずるs them to 'servitude'.
He said: 'The burka is not a 調印する of 宗教, it is a 調印する of subservience.'
