DAILY MAIL COMMENT: Why won't Rayner come clean on 税金?
Spare a thought for Angela Rayner's poor political 対抗者s when she senses even the slightest whiff of impropriety.
Like a terrier sighting a ネズミ, 労働's 副 leader 追求するs her quarry tenaciously, and with a dollop of moralising thrown in for good 手段.
When then Tory chairman Nadhim Zahawi got into bother with the Inland 歳入, she led calls for him to come clean or 辞職する.
And when 総理大臣 Rishi Sunak was on the rack over failing to 宣言する his wife's 商売／仕事 利益／興味s, she volubly 非難するd the 'transparency 黒人／ボイコット 穴を開ける'.
Yet when inconvenient questions are asked over her own 絡まるd 所有物／資産／財産 and 財政上の 取引, Mrs Rayner becomes uncustomarily coy. This reticence is 残念な.

She 競うs that after marrying in 2010 she lived apart from husband 示す in her 所有物／資産／財産 for five years, 免除されたing her from 資本／首都 伸び（る）s 税金. But 隣人s 主張する she is lying and that her brother resided there.
Ms Rayner is not just feeling the heat over her 税金 事件／事情／状勢s. Police are reviewing （人命などを）奪う，主張するs she broke 選挙（人）の 法律 by 存在 登録（する）d to 投票（する） at her house, にもかかわらず 恐らく living with her other half a mile away.
Surely any 半分-competent 探偵，刑事 could get to the 底（に届く） of this mystery.
After a month of trying to 避ける covering this story, the BBC has got there in the end.
In a risibly chummy interview ? '許す me for doing this on your birthday' ? 無線で通信する 4 presenter Nick Robinson asked Ms Rayner about the 明らかな 税金 discrepancies (but ignored the 可能性のある police 調査（する）).
She （人命などを）奪う，主張するd to have recently acquired 税金 advice exonerati ng her. If she has done nothing wrong, why not 公表する／暴露する it? That would be the easiest way to draw a line under this unedifying 事柄.
But she 辞退するs, instead 訴える手段／行楽地ing to dissembling and obfuscation. Her every 声明 has made her look shifty and evasive, throwing more 石油 on to the 解雇する／砲火／射撃.

Predictably, 労働 has （刑事）被告 her 対抗者s of running a smear （選挙などの）運動をする.
That is unfortunate. Ms Rayner is on the brink of 力／強力にする. She may think this a 嵐／襲撃する in a teacup, but the 原則 is enormous.
In a 僕主主義, those who aspire to make 法律s and spend the nati on's 税金s must be transparent about their own 事件／事情／状勢s.
This is about public 信用. If she is innocent, she has nothing to 恐れる.
溺死するing in 負債
The parlous 明言する／公表する of Thames Water, serving 16million 顧客s in and around London, seems to crystallise everything that's wrong with the shambolic water 産業.
Groaning under an £18billion 負債, the 会社／堅い is struggling to 生き残る after 投資家s 辞退するd to throw it a lifeline. Yes, water will still flow from taps, but the 会社／堅い is essentially 破産した／（警察が）手入れする.
This スキャンダル has been years in the making. 連続する owners have for １０年間s plundered billions and piled on 負債, while giving 悲惨な 顧客 service and 発射する／解雇するing 汚水 into our 水路s.
Some will say the answer to such appalling mismanagement is to nationalise Thames Water, but 証拠 示唆するs this would leave an even bigger, more expensive mess.
In the first instance, the company and the regulator must try to sort out this fiasco. Under no circumstances must long-苦しむing 消費者s be 攻撃する，衝突する with 急に上がるing 法案s.
