*There was a tie for last place. 人物/姿/数字s 代表する some, but not all, of those majors that tied

It's the first time the 国勢(人口)調査 asked individuals about their undergraduate majors, enabling 研究員s to tie in salary data, Carnevale said.

The 熟考する/考慮する 設立する that white men are concentrated in the highest-収入 majors, 含むing 工学 and 製薬の sciences, while women gravitate toward the lowest-収入 majors like education, art and social work.

The 報告(する)/憶測 also categorized the 171 majors into 15 fields, discovering different majors led to different 産業s.?

About 43 per cent of 法律 and public 政策 majors 結局最後にはーなる in public 行政, but only 13 per cent of social science majors do. A higher 部分 of social science majors 結局最後にはーなる in 財政/金融, 研究員s 設立する.

The most popular major group is 商売/仕事, accounting for 25 per cent of all students.

The data is important considering the high cost of a college degree and the 重要な 貸付金 重荷(を負わせる)s taken on by some students to 得る one, Carnevale said.

He explained: 'We don't have a system in the 部隊d Stat es where we 提携させる what you take with career prospects. Nobody ever tells you when you go to college what happened to the other people who took it before you.'

The 分析 echoes a 報告(する)/憶測 earlier this month, which 概算の a staggering 80 per cent of college students return home after 卒業.?

Still, Rachel Brown, director of the career centre at 寺 University in Philadelphia, 公式文書,認めるd that the 普通の/平均(する) person changes careers three to five times in a lifetime. And while median salary is certainly something students should be aware of, it shouldn't be the deciding factor, she said.

She explained: 'Take that into consideration, but look at the whole picture. 'What are you doing every day? What are the 職業 責任/義務s? What are the values of the 占領/職業 in general? 進歩 可能性のある?'

Answering those 肉親,親類d of questions is how Drexel University junior Meaghan Donchak chose her major of 法人組織の/企業の communication and public relations.

Donchak, 22, of East Windsor, New Jersey, said she knew her strengt hs were reading, 令状ing and communicating. But even after settling on public relations, her own 研究 showed such work at 非,不,無-利益(をあげる)s paid いっそう少なく than 法人組織の/企業の or 政府 work, and she adjusted her 跡をつける accordingly.

Donchak hopes her career will 許す her to travel, 会合,会う people and live comfortably.

The Georgetown 熟考する/考慮する 設立する communications and journalism majors earn $50,000 毎年, rising to $62,000 with a 卒業生(する) degree.

'The most important thing is not the money,' she said. 'It's really hard to 納得させる people of that, 特に people our age.

'It's doing what you love to do. You don't want to wake up every day dreading going to work."
