Celebrity chefs end 名誉き損 戦う/戦い

復讐, so they say, is a dish best served 冷淡な, and Marco Pierre White rustled up a plateful yesterday - 完全にする with a 法案 of around £2 million.

The celebrity chef had 告訴するd his former friend Tony Allan, millionaire chairman of the Fish! restaurant chain, for 名誉き損. Mr White was incensed about a newspaper interview given by Mr Allan, which 申し立てられた/疑わしい he had put real 署名/調印する instead of squid 署名/調印する in a bowl of braised cuttlefish.

In the same article, Mr Allan (人命などを)奪う,主張するd he stopped 供給(する)ing Mr White with fish because 'he tried to pull the wool over my 注目する,もくろむs' - 暗示するing that Mr White was in some way dishonest.

The 事例/患者 was to be heard in the High 法廷,裁判所 in London, but a last-minute 解決/入植地 saw Mr Allan agree to 支払う/賃金 Mr White 相当な 損害賠償金, together with 合法的な costs.

In a 声明 before 訴訟/進行s started, Mr Allan, 36, gave his 味方する of the story, 説: 'Ten years' friendship evaporated in April 1998 when I gave my first interview to a 国家の tabloid newspaper. I 申し込む/申し出d to apologise to him straight away, 申し込む/申し出ing to put the 記録,記録的な/記録する straight, but sadly he wasn't having it. The whole 悲劇の episode seems so unnecessary, but there you go - I'm here to defend myself'.

In the event, he did not need to. The 裁判官, Sir Oliver Popplewell, told the 陪審/陪審員団 who had been sworn in that 'the parties have come to 条件'.

Mr White's fellow-chef Gordon Ramsay, who had waited all day to give 証拠, was not needed.

Mr White, 39, who lives in Mayfair and owns 最高の,を越す London restaurants the Mirabelle and the Cafe 王室の, gripped the 手渡す of his Spanish wife Mati, but remained stony-直面するd.

His QC James Price then read an agreed 声明 to the 法廷,裁判所. It said Mr Allan made the 主張s in an article in The Mirror on April 16, 1998, about his life and 商売/仕事.

One was that the chef 'had served real 署名/調印する to a 顧客 in place of squid 署名/調印する in a dish of brais ed cuttlefish in one of his restaurants'. Mr Allan '受託するs that this story is 完全に untrue', said the QC.

Mr Allan also 受託するd that any suggestion that Mr White had been dishonest in his 商売/仕事 取引 with him 'or had さもなければ behaved improperly in any way is also 完全に untrue'. He 追加するd that Mr Allan '受託するs that he has made an error in publishing and/or 原因(となる)ing to be published these 声明s'.

Mr Price 述べるd Mr White as an 国祭的な-renowned chef and restaurateur who was the 'first British chef to 勝利,勝つ three Michelin 星/主役にするs and the youngest chef ever to be awarded such an accolade'.

Mr Price said Mr Allan withdrew the imputations unreservedly and apologised. The 損害賠償金 and costs will be met by Mr Allan, himself a former chef, and Fish plc, which 供給(する)s fish, meat, and poultry to the London restaurant 貿易(する) 同様に as owning a chain of restaurants.

Afterwards Mr White paced up and 負かす/撃墜する the 法廷,裁判所 ロビー, smoking, but 辞退するd to comment. 'I'm talking to my lawyer,' was all he would say.

Mr Allan, who was with his wife 否定するs, said in a 声明: 'The 解決/入植地 of these 訴訟/進行s will come as a 広大な/多数の/重要な 救済 to my family, friends, co-directors and 株主s.'
