For many, college seems like an expensive waste of time - 堅固に守るing you in insurmountable 負債 and ありそうもない to help you earn a higher salary.

But two 熟考する／考慮するs 解放（する）d this week have 設立する this is definitely not the 事例／患者, with a degree 収入 you $600,000 to $1million more over a lifetime.

'The 率 of return on getting a higher education is better than any other 従来の 投資 around,' says Michael Greenstone, an author of one of the 熟考する／考慮するs.

In a lifetime, college 卒業生（する）s make about $600,000 more than those who finished their education at high school, the 環境の 経済学者 said.

Still, not all academics agree:

'Is college 価値（がある） it? The answer is yes. Should everybody go? The answer is no,' said Andrew Gillen of the 中心 for College Affordability and 生産性, a think 戦車／タンク in Washington.

Mr Gillen is troubled by the 57 per cent 率 of 卒業 - or that almost 40 per cent 投資する in college education never finish.?

'I guess I thought I'd get a good 職業 and make a decent enough salary and be able to live like a middle class person,' he said.

He said his small salary now selling 医療の ソフトウェア in Massachusetts barely covers his rent and 公共事業（料金）／有用性s - forget about his $50,000 student 負債.

'I 人物／姿／数字d with a solid degree and a good work ethic that I wouldn't be worrying about this 肉親，親類d of stuff,' he said. 'I guess I was wrong.'
