Afghan film honoured at awards

The first film 発射 within Afghanistan since the 落ちる of the Taliban has won a major British movie award.

Osama, the story of a 12-year-old girl who disguises herself as a boy ーするために earn a living, took the Sutherland トロフィー for the most 初めの and imaginative film 審査するd at the London Film Festival.

The movie was made by 41-year-old Afghan-born director Siddiq Barmak who was 軍隊d to 逃げる his 母国 in 1996, 予定 to the rise of the Taliban. After living in 追放する in Pakistan he returned to Afghanistan after it was 解放するd by 連合 軍隊s.

The festival's artistic director Sandra Hebron said: "Osama is a timely and 独特の piece of film making, bringing a major new talent to the international film making community.

"The film 連合させるs skilful storytelling with striking visuals and strong 業績／成果s throughout, to powerful and moving 影響."
