David Starkey was defended against 告訴，告発s of 人種差別主義 yesterday after the outspoken TV? historian said white 青年s 伴う／関わるd in last week’s 暴動s were imitating 黒人／ボイコット ギャング（団） culture.

A string of critics 列d up to lambast Dr Starkey, who 引用するd Enoch Powell in a Newsnight 審議 and said white 青年s were 可決する・採択するing a ‘violent, destructive, nihilistic ギャング（個々） culture’.

On Twitter, 雑談（する）-show host Piers Morgan 述べるd Dr Starkey as a ‘人種差別主義者 idiot’ and said his TV career was over.

BBC 商売／仕事 editor Robert Peston said: ‘David Starkey’s 汚い ignorance is best ignored, not worthy of comment or 審議 ? though I 恐れる there will be a マスコミ feeding frenzy.’

But other commentators 決起大会／結集させるd to Dr Starkey’s support, 説 his arguments about ギャング（団） culture were ‘indisputable’.

The 列／漕ぐ／騒動 爆発するd after the historian spoke on Friday night opposite 放送者 Dreda Say Mitchell and left-wing author Owen Jones, who wrote Chavs: The Demonisation of the Working Class.

Dr Starkey said: ‘I think what this week has shown is that 深遠な changes have happened. There has been a 深遠な cultural change. I have just been re-reading Enoch Powell.

‘His prophecy was 絶対 権利 in one sense: the Tiber didn’t 泡，激怒すること with 血, but 炎上s lambent wrapped around Tottenham, wrapped around Clapham.

‘But it wasn’t intercommunal 暴力／激しさ; this was where he was 完全に wrong.

‘What has happened is that the 相当な section of the chavs that you wrote about have become 黒人／ボイコット. The whites have become 黒人／ボイコット. A particular sort of violent, destructive, nihilistic ギャング（個々） culture has become the fashion.

‘黒人／ボイコット and white, boy and girl operate in this language together. This language, which is wholly 誤った, which is this Jamaican patois that has intruded in England.

‘This is why so many of us have this sense of literally a foreign country.’

Dr Starkey 追加するd: ‘Listen to David Lammy, an archetypal successful 黒人／ボイコット man.

‘If you turn the 審査する off, so you were listening to him on 無線で通信する, you would think he was white.’

Mr Lammy, the 労働 MP for Tottenham, said the comments were 誤って導くing 同様に as ‘dangerous and 意見の不一致を生じる’.

But author and commentator Toby Young defended Dr Starkey against 告発（する），告訴（する）／料金s of 人種差別主義. He pointed out that Dr Starkey was not criticising 黒人／ボイコット culture in general but a ‘particular form of 黒人／ボイコット culture, the violent, destructive, nihilistic, ギャング（個々） culture associated with Jamaican ギャング（団）s and American 非難する music’.

He 追加するd: ‘Had he been talking about these 質s as if they were synonymous with African-Caribbean culture per se, or 非難するing that culture in its totality, then he would have been 有罪の of 人種差別主義. But he wasn’t.

‘He was やめる 特に 非難するing a sub-culture associated with a small 少数，小数派 of people of African-Caribbean 遺産. (Admittedly, he could have made this clearer.)

保守的な writer James Delingpole blogged: ‘The cultural point he is making is indisputable.

A 広報担当者 for Channel 4, for whom Dr Starkey made the 君主国 series, said: ‘We have nothing scheduled with David Starkey.

‘But we wouldn’t comment on this as Mr Starkey made his 発言／述べるs during an interview with the BBC and not Channel 4.’
