They kept 押し進めるing 支援する the start time of David Cameron’s 告示 in 負かす/撃墜するing Street yesterday morning. His speech was a work of not-やめる-乾燥した,日照りの 署名/調印する, changes to the text 存在 made to the final moment.

What was going on? Were they playing for time until they had more 確かな news of what was happening in Tripoli? Had 陸軍大佐 Gaddafi locked himself in his (船に)燃料を積み込む/(軍)地下えんぺい壕’s loo?

Or (unworthy thought) were Mr Cameron’s staff waiting for an opportune hour in the morning news programmes on the American east coast, to make sure that their man’s 直面する and very? British 発言する/表明する were associated with this success for Western and 特に European 外交政策 強硬派s?

Finally, 40 minutes after the microphone and lectern had been placed outside the door of No 10, the PM appeared, all blue tie, blue jacket, pursed lips and sun tan. Those 非常に/多数の holidays? have given him a healthy if padded sheen. His sleek composure was a? contrast to the hectic images from dusty northern Africa.

Was this a moment of 露骨な/あからさまの, Blairish self-発射/推定, of associating himself (and Britain) with some good publicity? Undoubtedly it was. But that would not be the 十分な picture. Mr Cameron took a hefty 危険, both 国家的に and 本人自身で, to 直面する the Libyan 独裁者. He did so in the 直面する of a 確かな 量 of naysaying, not least from the BBC whose 旗艦 無線で通信する programme yesterday was distinctly churlish about Libya’s 解放.

It would have looked peculiar had Mr Cameron not made a formal appea rance yesterday morning. There was an element of 全世界の 力/強力にする 発射/推定 going on here. He needed to be in? London and he was. Only the most swivel-注目する,もくろむd of anti-Cameroons could begrudge the 総理大臣 this moment in the political sun.

We can 公式文書,認める, mind you, that his third word was ‘I’. ‘This morning I 議長,司会を務めるd a 会合 of the 国家の 安全? 会議,’ he began. That 始める,決める the トン of the short speech. It was a mixture of ‘this is important stuff’ and ‘look how much I am 伴う/関わるd’.

When referring to the mad 陸軍大佐 he used 簡単に the surname ? Gaddafi, or Qadhafi, as the Foreign Office still 主張するs on (一定の)期間ing it. The 撤退 of any honorific from the 陸軍大佐 was in contrast to that bestowed 繰り返して on the 対立 leader, ‘Chairman Jalil’. Chairman Mao. Chairman? Arafat. It is not always such a 広大な/多数の/重要な thing to be called.

Around 負かす/撃墜するing Street there was the hum not only of London traffic but also, engagingly, of seagulls which must have drifted over from the Thames. An echo of Cornwall?

Flag of freedom: A group of Libyan men hold the republic flag aloft and fired rounds into the air from their weapons close to a checkpoint

旗 of freedom: A grou p of Libyan men 持つ/拘留する the 共和国 旗 aloft and 解雇する/砲火/射撃d 一連の会議、交渉/完成するs into the 空気/公表する from their 武器s の近くに to a 検問所

Mr Cameron was, however, in avowedly sober, 非,不,無-holiday 方式. He was 決定するd not to look as though he was enjoying it all. He spoke of his conversations in 最近の days with Mr Jalil, with Nato leaders, the アラブ連盟 and others. The payphone in the hallway of his bed and breakfast in the West? Country must have been jolly busy.

The 表現 ‘Arab Spring’ is still 存在 used, though we are now in late August. ‘Today the Arab Spring is a step その上の away from 圧迫 and 独裁政治 and a step closer to freedom and 僕主主義,’ said Mr Cameron.

His 最高の,を越す line for the news wallahs was that Gaddafi’s 政権 was ‘落ちるing? apart and in 十分な 退却/保養地’. How 甘い it must be for the leader of a wobbly? 連合 to 告発する/非難する another leader of such things.

He 追加するd that the Libyans are to be helped with their electricity, water, communications, etc. Good grief, I hope that doesn’t mean we’re going to send in those clowns from British Gas.

The one 宣告,判決 in Mr Cameron’s speech which jarred just わずかに was a 思い出の品 that Gaddafi had been ‘going to 虐殺(する) his own people ? and that 大虐殺 of thousands of innocent? people was 回避するd’.

This had a faintly shrill トン. Understatement might have been better here, not least because? one dreads to think what might now happen in Tripoli.

After a couple of questions a composed 総理大臣 turned on his heels and 長,率いるd 支援する inside No 10. 支援する to his 最新の truncated 逃亡 in the sun?

Given his holiday 跡をつける 記録,記録的な/記録する and the way internationa l crises seem to occur every time he so much as 広げるs a deckchair, it might be? better for us all, for the time 存在, if he, Samantha and the little Camerons? took their leisure by the swimming pool at Chequers.
