A family whose five-day-old baby was killed by a deadly E.coli 感染 has 需要・要求するd answers from the hospital where the 突発/発生 occurred.

Hope Evans was one of two babies who died in Swansea from a 緊張する of the chronic stomach bug.

Hope died after 契約ing the ESBL E.coli 緊張する, which is 抵抗力のある to 抗生物質s and can 原因(となる) serious problems for the ‘攻撃を受けやすい’.

Her parents Jeanette and Neil are too upset to speak about their loss, but grandmother Valerie Evans, 66, said: 'They are very distraught - they don't know what is going on.

THE BACTERIA THAT TARGETS THE VULNERABLE

What is E. coli?
Escherichia coli is a type of bacterium 設立する in the intestines of humans and other animals and forms part of the normal gut flora. However, some 緊張するs can 原因(となる) serious food 毒(薬)ing and 感染. While most people are 影響する/感情d with short-称する,呼ぶ/期間/用語 diarrhoea, E. coli bacteria can 原因(となる) the bladder 感染 cystitis and more serious 複雑化s, such as haemolytic-uraemic syndrome (HUS). This is a serious disorder of the digestive system, which produces 有毒な 実体s that can get into the 血 stream and 原因(となる) 腎臓 病気.

Where do the E.coli bacteria come from?
Most people carry 害のない 緊張するs of E. coli in their intestine. Both these and the 緊張するs that 原因(となる) diarrhoea come from 汚染するd food or water. It can also be passed from animals to people and person-to-person through 手渡す to mouth.

What about ESBL?

How do you sto p E.coli it spreading?
Good hygiene is very important in 妨げるing person-to person spread and small children should be 監督するd with 手渡す washing after using the 洗面所 and before eating.
It is always advisable to wash fruits and vegetables before you eat them. Peeling or cooking fruit and vegetables can also 除去する germs. Also be careful not to swallow water while swimming in lakes or ponds.
