The family of a 十代の少年少女 who died from 吸い込むing helium at a party have said their daughter only used it because of 'peer 圧力.'

The craz e of 吸い込むing helium is a party trick spreading across the U.S, with 使用者s getting a comical high-pitched 発言する／表明する after inhalation, although it does not 持つ／拘留する any 'high' 影響.

But the teen's 悲劇の death in what her friends thought was light-heartened fun, exposes the dangers of 吸い込むing or 'huffing' helium, 特に from a 与圧するd 戦車／タンク.

Ms Long had told her parents she was going to a slumber party last Saturday, but she 現実に went to a condo in Medford, Oregon, where police say the older sister of one of her friends was throwing a party with alcohol and マリファナ.

After drinking on the 運動, and 負かす／撃墜するing more drinks in the condo, Ashley took a turn on a 戦車／タンク of helium that everyone else was 吸い込むing to make their 発言する／表明するs sound funny.

'That helium 戦車／タンク got going around,' said Ashley's stepfather, Justin Earp, who learned what happened from talking to Ashley's friends at the party.

'It got to my daughter. My daughter didn't want to do it. It was peer 圧力. They put a mask up to her 直面する. They said it would be 承認する. "It's not gonna 傷つける you. It'll just make you laugh and talk funny."

Instead, she 崩壊（する）d out and later died at a hospital, the result of an obstruction in a 血 大型船 原因（となる）d by 吸い込むing helium from a 与圧するd 戦車／タンク.

Ashley's best friend Marina Za mora said that she had never used 麻薬s and had not drunk before and the party was the first time she 消費するd alcohol.

'I think she felt I think she felt like she was going to let us 負かす／撃墜する if she didn't do it as this guys was 持つ／拘留するing it up to her mouth, telling her to do it,' said 行方不明になる Zamora.

Justin Earp said the kids had four ワイン coolers each in the car, and four mixed drinks at the condo, before they started passing around the helium.

Police said it was an 8-gallon canister, which is availability at many 蓄える／店s and the kids were taking 攻撃する，衝突するs 直接／まっすぐに from the 戦車／タンク.

'About 11.30 we got a phone call from police 説 they were doing CPR on our daughter,' said Justin Earp.

At the hospital, they were told that Ashley had died.

Loriann Earp said she feels like her daughter was stolen from her.

'My whole chest is 崩壊（する）d and my heart is broken,' she said through sobs.

'I don't understand.'

She says her daughter was a goofy, nerdy eighth-grader who struggled with her 負わせる, was just starting to notice boys, got 最高の，を越す grades in school, had posters of Justin Bieber all over her room and 手配中の，お尋ね者 to grow up to be a 海洋 biologist.

The family moved from 認めるs Pass, Oregon, to Eagle Point about a year ago, and Ashley had just gotten over the difficulty of adjusting to eighth grade in a new school.

Mr Pegueros said the first 弁護 is for parents to tell their kids about the dangers of 確かな 実体s. He said kids need to also ask themselves whether going along with the （人が）群がる at a party is 価値（がある） it.

'Peer 圧力 is a very potent 軍隊,' he said.

'We've all gone through it growing up. It's getting somebody to pause and think and 評価する the 状況／情勢 and 決定する, is this something that's going to have a bad consequence.'

Four men who were at the party have been questioned by police, but have not been 告発（する），告訴（する）／料金d, said Medford Police Lt マイク Budreau.
