Chaaaaarge! 保護の elephant sees off a pack of horrible hyenas - but poor calf still loses its tail in 劇の bush 戦う／戦い for 生き残り

This is the 劇の moment a 保護の mother elephant 猛烈に fought off a fearsome pack of hyenas trying to attack her young calf.

The life and death struggle began as the dog-like 哺乳動物s pounced on the unsuspecting baby elephant when it became separated from its mother.

Six of the hyenas 開始する，打ち上げるd themselves の上に the calf's 支援する in a 企て，努力，提案 to bring it 負かす／撃墜する, 誘発するing the furious mother to swing into 活動／戦闘.

She 殺到d に向かって the vicious creatures with such 軍隊 that she left several trees uprooted in her wake.

The 抱擁する elephant kicked out her feet and swung her trunk at the pack, which quickly scattered.

She then returned to her calf, which had its tail bitten off during the 遭遇（する）, but appeared さもなければ 無傷の.

Strength in numbers? The hyenas 襲う the baby elephant by jumping on its 支援する in a 企て，努力，提案 to overpower it

Unequal 戦う／戦い: The hyenas stood no chance against the 激怒（する） of a mother elephant, and several trees were uprooted in the heat of her rampage

The 残虐な 遭遇（する） was 証言，証人／目撃するd by a group of stunned tourists, who were willing the mother on to victory.

Guide James Weis, of the 小旅行する company 注目する，もくろむs on Africa, was 主要な the group of 訪問者s in the Linyanto bush in Botswana at the time.

James, 50, from Chicago, said: 'We were out in three 乗り物s when we heard the shrieking of an elephant.

'We went to 調査／捜査する and 設立する a small group of two large 女性（の）s elephants and two calfs.

'A pack of about 18 hyen as were trying to make inroads on the calf.

'When the mother chased them off the larger pack tried to attack the calf. It wasn't alone for more than 10 seconds when the mother returned and was even more annoyed.

'They were playing a dangerous game because had one hyena got in the way of her it would have been flung through the 空気／公表する like a beanbag.

'She 告発（する），告訴（する）／料金d after the pack and was knocking over trees like they were matchsticks and the hyenas fled and scattered in a cloud of dust kicked up by the mother.

'The baby had its tail bitten off, but was alright. It is 公正に／かなり ありふれた to see elephants in Africa with no tail.

'It was やめる a 劇の thing to watch.'
